Job Description Summary

The Senior IT Project Manager is responsible for the program level management and delivery of physical technology infrastructure initiatives across the University. This role leads multiple concurrent projects focused on campus technology foundations, including network infrastructure, security endpoints, and building embedded IT systems.
The position requires advanced project and program management skills, strong coordination across IT infrastructure teams and vendors, and the ability to deliver complex physical technology projects within active campus environments.

Essential Duties:

Program & Project Management

  • Manage a coordinated program of physical technology infrastructure projects, ensuring alignment of scope, schedule, budget, resources, and dependencies.

  • Oversee planning and execution of multiple concurrent initiatives, including sequencing, risk management, and issue resolution.

  • Ensure projects deliver reliable, scalable, and secure technology infrastructure that is aligned with institutional needs.

Scope, Planning & Governance

  • Define and manage project scope, timelines, resourcing, budgets, and deliverables in partnership with IT leadership and stakeholders.

  • Establish and maintain project governance structures, including escalation paths, decision tracking, and status reporting.

  • Provide consolidated programlevel reporting on milestones, risks, issues, and financials.

Technical Coordination

  • Work closely with IT infrastructure teams, Facilities, and other business stakeholders to ensure technical requirements are clearly defined and implemented.

  • Translate business and operational requirements into executable project plans for physical technology delivery.

  • Coordinate implementation activities to minimize disruption to academic, administrative, and campus operations.

Vendor & Financial Management

  • Coordinate internal and external project resources, including vendors, integrators, and consultants.

  • Review and manage contracts, Statements of Work, deliverables, and vendor performance.

  • Manage project and program budgets, including tracking, forecasting, and invoicing.

Communication & Documentation

  • Ability to communicate effectively to stakeholders at all levels (project team, University Cabinet, IT Leadership, etc.)

  • Lead project meetings with IT teams, campus stakeholders, and vendors. Ensure follow through on open items and decisions.

  • Maintain complete and accurate project and program documentation.

  • Execute communication plans related to infrastructure changes and implementation schedules.

  • Contribute to defining and executing project change management strategy.

  • Perform other duties as required.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree and 7+ years of project management experience, including 3+ years managing complex, multiproject initiatives.

  • Demonstrated experience managing physical technology infrastructure projects with technical and scheduling dependencies.

  • Strong organizational, analytical, and problemsolving skills with consistent followthrough.

  • Ability to lead crossfunctional teams and manage stakeholder expectations without direct authority.

  • Excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills.

  • Experience applying multiple project delivery methodologies (predictive, iterative, Agile), with sound judgment in approach selection.

  • Proficiency with Smartsheet or comparable project management tools.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft PowerPoint and standard business productivity tools.

  • Familiarity with AI tools to support personal and administrative efficiency.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in higher education or similarly complex institutional environments.

  • Direct experience with one or more of the following:

    • Network and wireless infrastructure

    • Buildingembedded IT systems

    • AV or classroom technology

  • Business analyst experience.

  • Experience working with vendorled delivery models.

  • Commitment to continual learning and development in a constantly changing environment.

Work Environment:

  • Hybrid position based out of Bentley University's Waltham campus.

  • Regular oncampus presence required due to the physical nature of assigned technology infrastructure projects.

  • Ability to travel across campus for meetings and implementation coordination.

  • Ability to work outside of standard business hours if necessary to avoid disruption to critical University functions.

Salary Grade Range:

$91,150 - $150,890 per year
