IT TECHNICIAN  OPENING DATE: 07/10/2026CLOSING DATE: Open until filled *Job openings are posted for a minimum of three calendar days. This opening may be removed from posting boards and filled at any time after the minimum posting period has ended. SALARY: GRADE 10 $24.17 - $37.02 hourly (salary will be dependent upon education and experience) GENERAL DESCRIPTION:Under the supervision of the IT Manager, the IT Technician is responsible for staffing the IT help desk in Riverton City and is responsible for providing excellent customer service to City staff over the phone, in person, and by email in a timely manner. The main responsibilities include installation and maintenance of IT equipment, including equipment such as PC's, iPads, thin clients, printers, and other end-user devices. Will provide support for daily IT projects and activities as directed. The IT Technician will manage the Audio/Visual systems of the city. EXAMPLES OF DUTIES: (These examples are not all inclusive)Responsible for troubleshooting and responding to requests for IT assistance from City staff over the phone, in person, and by email in a timely manner.Installation and maintenance of IT equipment, including equipment such as PC's, iPads, thin clients, printers and other end-user devices.Responsible for the RMA and repair process for all devices under warranty.Provide support for daily IT projects and activities.Manage the Audio/Visual systems of the city, including working with designated vendors as needed.Work with IT Manager to develop solutions and enhance efficiencies.Perform audits on equipment.Create users and permissions in Active Directory.Manage the users and permissions of the ERP system for each department.Other responsibilities, as assigned.Any other responsibilities that would be required to maintain effective operations of the department. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:High School Diploma or equivalent required.Associate's degree, with a technical major, such as computer science, information technology, information systems, or a related field, is preferred. Equivalent experience is acceptable in lieu of a formal degree.1+ years' experience in computer troubleshooting is required.Current Utah Driver's License with a good driving record.Must pass a background check. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:Ability to prioritize work based on department and production objectives.Ability to manage projects simultaneously.Must be highly self-motivated.Ability to act with integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality.Must be able to work evenings, weekends, and some holidays when needed; schedule may vary on a weekly basis.Positive attitude and ability to work with a variety of different people at various levels.Excellent customer orientation skills required. SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:Successful candidates must pass a pre-employment drug screen, a background and driving record check, and a Human Performance Evaluation, be able to lift up to 50 lbs., and provide employment verification (I-9).
