Senior IT Project Manager – EHR Implementation

Location: Dauphin County, Pennsylvania
Work Arrangement: Hybrid – 2 days onsite per week as requested

Position Overview

We are seeking a Senior IT Project Manager with specialized experience in Electronic Health Record (EHR) implementation, health informatics, and health IT to lead a large-scale EHR implementation initiative.

The Project Manager will be responsible for driving the project from planning through implementation and transition into ongoing operations. The ideal candidate will have demonstrated experience implementing an EHR in an environment transitioning from paper-based charting to an electronic system, along with strong organizational change management and stakeholder-management experience.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the complete lifecycle of a large-scale EHR implementation, from planning through production implementation and transition to operations.
  • Develop and maintain comprehensive project plans, schedules, budgets, estimates, communication plans, and deliverables matrices.
  • Establish project priorities, milestones, timelines, resources, and dependencies.
  • Manage project scope, schedule, budget, risks, issues, dependencies, and deliverables.
  • Track project progress and take corrective action when necessary.
  • Lead project governance and ensure adherence to established project management methodologies and standards.
  • Coordinate requirements, planning, design, development, testing, implementation, and transition activities.
  • Coordinate system testing and User Acceptance Testing (UAT) with appropriate stakeholders.
  • Facilitate collaboration between business teams, IT teams, vendors, and other project partners.
  • Work with application, data, informatics, networking, security, infrastructure, and service-management teams to identify and coordinate project activities.
  • Manage vendor relationships and ensure solutions meet business and technical requirements.
  • Identify, track, and mitigate project risks and issues using RAID+ logs and other project-management practices.
  • Develop risk mitigation strategies and track issues through resolution.
  • Monitor and manage project budgets and estimates.
  • Prepare regular project status reports, metrics, dashboards, and executive updates.
  • Communicate project status, risks, issues, recommendations, and decisions to senior leadership and stakeholders.
  • Develop and maintain project documentation and collaboration sites.
  • Support organizational change management and business readiness activities.
  • Plan and coordinate training and orientation sessions.
  • Deliver project presentations and facilitate stakeholder meetings as needed.
  • Ensure project deliverables meet established quality, compliance, and service requirements.
  • Mentor less-experienced project management staff when required.
  • Support continuous improvement of project management processes and methodologies.
EHR & Healthcare Technology Responsibilities
  • Lead the implementation of a new Electronic Health Record (EHR) system.
  • Manage the transition from EHR implementation into program operations and maintenance.
  • Coordinate EHR implementation activities across business, clinical, and technical teams.
  • Translate clinical and business requirements into actionable project activities.
  • Support health informatics and health IT initiatives.
  • Coordinate system testing, implementation readiness, training, and transition activities.
  • Ensure the implemented solution meets business, technical, quality, and operational requirements.
Required Qualifications
  • 7–9 years of relevant Project Management experience.
  • Demonstrated experience leading a new EHR system implementation.
  • Experience transitioning an organization from paper-based charting to an electronic health record system.
  • Active PMP certification from PMI for at least 5 years.
  • Experience leading complex technical initiatives involving multiple IT teams and vendors.
  • Experience managing project planning, execution, governance, testing, implementation, and transition activities.
  • Strong experience with project schedules, budgets, estimates, risks, issues, dependencies, and stakeholder management.
  • Strong communication, facilitation, leadership, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to manage large, complex, high-priority technology initiatives.

  • Experience with Organizational Change Management (OCM).

Required Candidate Criteria
