About This Role:
PayIt's Information Technology Team is the group primarily responsible for building, integrating, and maintaining the systems and applications that drive PayIt's culture of collaboration and innovation. The IT Engineer will be the face of, and initial point of contact for, the IT Team. This individual is expected to be intelligent, bright, creative, and able to excel in a fast-paced environment.
What You'll Be Doing
The IT Engineer will work across teams and within a team, and be responsible for, but not limited to, the following:
Design
  • Provide infrastructure support for all systems within PayIt's offices, including network equipment, laptops, and mobile devices.
  • Analyze system and application requirements and provide recommended technical solutions that are efficient, scalable, maintainable, and accurately meet the needs of the business.
  • Contribute to the development of the technical roadmap by recognizing and putting forth solutions to systemic problems.
  • Support the security and compliance mission of the company with the goal of ensuring the overall security of the company, as well as company-wide compliance to a variety of internal policies and standards, and external regulatory standards, including PCI-DSS, ISO 27001, and SSAE-18 SOC 2.
  • Build AI-driven workflows and automations to create efficiencies, and make our work easier and quicker.
Document
  • Maintain and enhance documentation around all IT support processes.
Maintenance
  • Participate in resolving challenging and demanding problems within the corporate network.
  • Manage all tactical and strategic projects within PayIt's corporate network with the goal of maintaining the health, security, and operational efficiencies of PayIt's employees and offices.
  • Ensure SLA metrics, specifically around IT support controls, are met.
Customer Service
  • Assist with customer inquiries and resolution of problems.
  • Resolve issues in a timely manner.
  • Represent the IT Team in staff meetings with other teams to communicate initiatives and provide status updates on projects.
Innovation
  • Research and explore new approaches and new technologies and alternative ways to better accomplish functional requests.
  • Work closely with a variety of business teams across the organization to coordinate and plan initiatives to support the software and hardware needs of the entire company.
  • Act as a sounding board and filter for the application of new technologies.
  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement by never being satisfied with "the way things are."
What You'll Need to be Successful
  • Two or more years of experience in a junior or similar role.
  • Basic knowledge of one scripting language, e.g. Python.
  • Desire to work onsite in downtown Kansas City on a regular cadence (roughly one day a week, or more when the work demands it). This isn't a face-time policy. Our network and hardware live here, and the team does its best problem-solving together. We're hiring someone who wants to be where the work happens.
  • Intermediate knowledge of, and demonstrable experience with, AI applications, including at least one of the following: Cursor, ChatGPT/Codex, Claude, or Gemini.
  • Intermediate knowledge of Apple hardware and MacOS, and/or Windows operating systems and associated hardware.
  • Beginner experience with audio-visual equipment and setup.
  • Intermediate understanding of cloud computing, cloud architecture, and Software as a Service concepts.

  • Demonstrable experience with mobile device management, collaboration, and/or identity and access management solutions.
  • Robust analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong communication (oral, written, presentation), interpersonal, time management, organizational, and consultative skills.
  • The ability to multitask and work independently.
  • The flexibility to occasionally work weekend and evening assignments, as well as availability during off-hours for participation in scheduled and unscheduled activities.
