IT Operations & Logistics Engineer
Are you an organized, hands-on IT professional who enjoys keeping technology, equipment, and processes running smoothly behind the scenes? Do you thrive in a role where you can combine technical knowledge with asset management, logistics, problem-solving, and operational execution?
Exigent Mechanical Services is looking for an IT Operations & Logistics Engineer to help manage the technology lifecycle across our growing organization and operating companies.
This is a hands-on, onsite-focused IT operations role with direct responsibility for the physical lifecycle of IT equipment. From receiving new technology and preparing devices for new hires to managing inventory, coordinating repairs, recovering equipment from departing employees, and supporting device refresh programs, you will help ensure the right equipment is in the right place, properly configured, accounted for, and ready when the business needs it.
The ideal candidate is technically capable, highly organized, detail-oriented, dependable, and comfortable managing multiple priorities. You should enjoy working with both technology and people and take pride in creating organized, efficient processes that keep IT operations running smoothly.
This position requires a regular onsite presence four (4) days per week. The selected candidate will primarily support the ACI location and may be required to provide onsite support at ACI's new location and other Exigent operating company locations as business needs require.
Compensation Target Range: $80,000 - $90,000
About the Role
As the IT Operations & Logistics Engineer, you will play a critical role in the day-to-day operation of Exigent's IT environment by managing the physical technology lifecycle and supporting the operational processes that keep our employees equipped and productive.
You will work closely with employees, hiring managers, HR, IT leadership, vendors, and other IT team members to coordinate equipment and technology needs across the organization.
Your responsibilities will span the entire equipment lifecycle.
You will have the opportunity to:
  • Own and maintain accurate IT asset and equipment records
  • Coordinate the procurement and delivery of IT hardware
  • Prepare and configure equipment for new hires and existing employees
  • Support employee onboarding and offboarding from an IT equipment perspective
  • Manage shipping, receiving, storage, and movement of IT equipment
  • Coordinate equipment repairs, replacements, warranties, and returns
  • Support device refresh and replacement programs
  • Maintain organized IT inventory and equipment storage
  • Assist with endpoint management and device provisioning
  • Work with vendors and service providers to resolve equipment and technology issues
  • Develop and improve IT operational processes
  • Help establish consistent equipment and asset-management standards across the organization

Key Responsibilities
IT Asset Management & Inventory
  • Maintain accurate records of company-owned IT equipment throughout the entire asset lifecycle
  • Track laptops, desktops, monitors, mobile devices, phones, peripherals, accessories, and other IT equipment
  • Maintain accurate asset assignments, locations, status, and ownership information
  • Ensure equipment is properly tagged, documented, and accounted for
  • Conduct regular inventory reviews and reconcile physical equipment against asset records
  • Identify missing, aging, excess, or underutilized equipment
  • Maintain organized equipment storage and staging areas
  • Support asset audits and IT operational reporting
  • Maintain documentation related to equipment purchases, assignments, transfers, repairs, and retirement
  • Help establish and maintain standardized asset-management procedures

Hardware Procurement & Receiving
  • Coordinate the procurement of IT hardware and equipment based on business and employee needs
  • Work with IT leadership and vendors to obtain quotes, place orders, and track deliveries
  • Receive and inspect incoming IT equipment
  • Verify shipments against purchase orders, packing slips, and expected equipment
  • Record newly received equipment in the appropriate asset-management systems
  • Properly label, organize, and store equipment after receipt
  • Identify damaged, missing, or incorrect equipment and coordinate resolution with vendors
  • Maintain visibility into equipment orders and expected delivery dates
  • Help ensure equipment is available when needed for onboarding, replacements, and refresh programs

Device Preparation & Deployment
  • Prepare laptops, desktops, monitors, mobile devices, peripherals, and other equipment for deployment
  • Configure and provision Windows endpoints for new and existing employees
  • Install required software, applications, updates, and configurations
  • Enroll and manage devices through endpoint-management platforms such as Microsoft Intune
  • Support Microsoft Autopilot or similar automated provisioning processes
  • Ensure devices meet established configuration and security standards before deployment
  • Coordinate equipment delivery or onsite setup with employees and hiring managers
  • Maintain standardized device preparation checklists and procedures
  • Test equipment before deployment to confirm functionality
  • Troubleshoot hardware and configuration issues prior to employee use

Employee Onboarding
  • Coordinate IT equipment requirements for new hires
  • Work with HR and hiring teams to understand upcoming start dates and equipment needs
  • Prepare laptops, monitors, phones, accessories, and other required equipment
  • Ensure equipment is configured and ready prior to an employee's start date
  • Coordinate delivery, pickup, or onsite setup of equipment
  • Assist employees with initial device setup and basic technical questions
  • Confirm equipment assignments and update asset records
  • Ensure returned or reassigned equipment is properly processed and documented
  • Help create a consistent and reliable technology experience for new employees

Employee Offboarding & Equipment Recovery
  • Coordinate the collection and recovery of IT equipment from departing employees
  • Work with HR and appropriate stakeholders to ensure equipment is returned promptly
  • Track returned laptops, phones, monitors, accessories, and other company property
  • Inspect returned equipment for condition and completeness
  • Update asset records following equipment recovery
  • Determine whether equipment should be redeployed, repaired, refreshed, stored, or retired
  • Coordinate shipping or transportation of equipment when necessary
  • Ensure recovered equipment is securely processed before reassignment
  • Support the removal or reassignment of equipment and software licenses as appropriate

Device Refresh & Lifecycle Management
  • Support company-wide and department-level device refresh programs
  • Identify equipment approaching the end of its useful lifecycle
  • Coordinate replacement schedules and employee communications
  • Prepare replacement devices and coordinate deployment
  • Manage the return and disposition of replaced equipment
  • Maintain accurate records throughout the refresh process
  • Coordinate warranty repairs and replacement equipment
  • Help identify opportunities to improve the organization's hardware lifecycle strategy
  • Maintain awareness of equipment age, condition, warranty status, and replacement needs

Shipping, Receiving & IT Logistics
  • Manage day-to-day shipping and receiving activities for IT equipment
  • Package and ship laptops, monitors, phones, accessories, and other technology
  • Coordinate equipment transfers between operating company locations
  • Track shipments and confirm delivery
  • Maintain organized staging, storage, and shipping areas
  • Coordinate equipment movement between employees, locations, vendors, and IT
  • Ensure equipment is packaged and handled appropriately to minimize damage
  • Maintain documentation and tracking information for equipment shipments
  • Support technology logistics associated with office moves, new locations, and infrastructure projects

Hardware Troubleshooting & Technical Support
  • Troubleshoot Windows endpoint hardware and software issues
  • Diagnose issues involving laptops, desktops, monitors, docking stations, printers, mobile devices, and peripherals
  • Perform basic hardware repairs or coordinate repairs with vendors and manufacturers
  • Troubleshoot device configuration and software installation issues
  • Support Microsoft 365-related issues within the scope of the role
  • Assist with user account and access issues involving Microsoft Entra ID
  • Troubleshoot basic network connectivity issues
  • Escalate more complex technical issues to the appropriate IT resource or managed service provider
  • Provide hands-on technical assistance to employees when onsite

Endpoint & Device Management
  • Support endpoint management using Microsoft Intune, Autopilot, or similar platforms
  • Assist with device enrollment, provisioning, configuration, and compliance
  • Support standardized Windows device configurations
  • Install and maintain approved software and applications
  • Assist with endpoint updates and configuration changes

  • Serve as an operational point of contact for hardware vendors, manufacturers, shipping providers, repair facilities, and other IT suppliers
  • Coordinate warranty claims, repairs, replacements, and returns
  • Track outstanding vendor issues through resolution
  • Communicate equipment status and expected timelines to internal stakeholders
  • Assist with vendor evaluations and equipment purchasing decisions
  • Maintain records of vendor contacts, warranties, repairs, and equipment-related service activity

IT Operations & Process Improvement
  • Document IT operational procedures, workflows, and equipment processes
  • Create and maintain standardized procedures for onboarding, offboarding, device deployment, inventory, and equipment recovery
  • Identify inefficiencies in current IT processes and recommend improvements
  • Help establish repeatable processes that can scale as Exigent continues to grow
  • Identify opportunities to automate or streamline manual tasks
  • Develop operational reports related to inventory, equipment lifecycle, procurement, and deployment
  • Maintain accurate documentation to improve visibility and accountability
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives across IT operations

What We're Looking For
Experience
  • Approximately 3-5+ years of experience in IT operations, IT support, asset management, IT logistics, or a related field
  • Demonstrated experience managing the lifecycle of IT equipment
  • Experience with hardware procurement, inventory management, and equipment deployment
  • Experience supporting employee onboarding and offboarding
  • Experience coordinating equipment shipping, receiving, repairs, warranties, and returns
