Job description

We are seeking an experienced Sr. IT Operations Engineer to help develop and improve the systems, processes, and technology experiences that support employees across the organization. This hands-on role combines internal IT operations, Tier 2 technical support, employee onboarding and offboarding, workflow automation, network and access administration, and project-based work.
The Sr. IT Operations Engineerwill help create scalable, user-friendly solutions that make it easier for employees to access the technology, information, and support they need. This includes strengthening internal IT processes, improving the employee-facing IT Hub, connecting systems and workflows, and developing our identity and access management practices to meet the needs of our organization.
The ideal candidate is a well-rounded IT professional with experience across systems, networking, employee technology, access management, and process improvement. This individual enjoys solving technical and operational challenges, designing practical solutions, and finding creative ways to improve both security and the employee experience.
Location: Eugene, OR, Hybrid
This is a hybrid role based in Eugene, Oregon. Candidates should be located within commuting distance of the office or be willing to relocate. During onboarding and ramp-up, employees are expected to work onsite full-time before transitioning to a hybrid schedule.
What You'll Do
  • Manage daily support tickets and serve as a Tier 2 escalation resource for complex issues involving employee technology, systems, connectivity, access, authentication, and provisioning.
  • Help develop and continuously improve internal IT operations, support processes, service delivery, and employee-facing technology resources.
  • Design and improve employee onboarding, offboarding, and role-change processes in partnership with Human Resources, IT, Security, Legal, and business stakeholders.
  • Identify and implement automation opportunities that streamline account creation, access provisioning, approvals, support workflows, and other employee lifecycle activities.
  • Improve the employee-facing IT Hub by creating intuitive processes, organizing resources, and making it easier for employees to request technology and access IT support.
  • Support employee engagement with IT systems by developing clear, practical, and user-friendly tools, resources, and experiences.
  • Develop and enhance the organization's Identity & Access Management (IAM) and Network Access Control (NAC) practices based on business and security needs.
  • Administer and improve Single Sign-On (SSO), authentication services, user access, role-based access controls, and identity lifecycle processes.
  • Support network and enterprise access technologies, including NAC, 802.1X, RADIUS, TACACS+, network segmentation, and related authentication solutions.
  • Design and implement access controls aligned with Zero Trust principles while maintaining a practical and efficient employee experience.
  • Troubleshoot and support remediation of technical, identity, authentication, access control, and security-related issues.
  • Lead and support projects involving system integrations, workflow design, automation, technology modernization, and operational process improvements.
  • Manage and prioritize operational and project work using Jira or similar ticketing and project management platforms.
  • Collaborate across technical and business teams to understand challenges, develop solutions, and support successful adoption of new processes and technologies.
  • Manage relationships with technology vendors and service providers, including licensing, contracts, platform performance, and service delivery.
  • Provide technical recommendations, project updates, and operational insights to stakeholders and leadership.
  • Evaluate and support emerging technologies, including AI-enabled tools and workflow improvements that increase efficiency and improve service delivery.

Requirements
  • 7+ years of experience in IT Operations, Systems Administration, Infrastructure, Network Engineering, Technical Support, or a related technology field.
  • 3+ years of experience supporting employee onboarding, offboarding, user provisioning, access management, or employee lifecycle processes.
  • 3+ years of experience providing Tier 2 or higher technical support and troubleshooting complex technical issues.
  • Experience supporting enterprise systems, networking, authentication services, identity platforms, or access control technologies.
  • Demonstrated experience improving operational processes, implementing automation, or leading workflow improvement initiatives.
  • Experience collaborating across technical and business teams to implement solutions and support organizational change.
  • Demonstrated experience developing, improving, or scaling IT operational processes, employee onboarding experiences, self-service tools, or technology adoption initiatives.
  • Strong troubleshooting, communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience supporting Identity & Access Management (IAM), Single Sign-On (SSO), identity governance, or access control technologies.
  • Experience with Microsoft Entra ID, Active Directory, or related identity platforms.
  • Experience supporting NAC, 802.1X, RADIUS, TACACS+, or enterprise networking technologies.
  • Experience developing onboarding/offboarding workflows, self-service tools, or employee-facing IT solutions.
  • Experience with automation tools, systems integrations, APIs, SaaS platforms, or AI-enabled workflow solutions.
  • Relevant Microsoft, Networking, Security, Cloud, or IT Service Management certifications.
