This position combines hands-on systems and network administration with project coordination or data integration responsibilities across the organization's multi-site, hybrid environment. Primary duties include monitoring performance, troubleshooting issues, and installing and configuring various software, hardware, and networks, while also planning and driving IT projects to completion and designing, building, and maintaining integrations between enterprise systems and data sources. This position provides technical support for staff in various geographical locations, facilitates and maintains computer networks, and ensures the security and efficiency of IT infrastructures. Critical aspects of the role are attention to detail, problem-solving ability, effective project and vendor coordination, and solid knowledge of databases and system integration.

  • Maintain network and system security through the monitoring of logs and management of firewall policies
  • Manage enterprise systems such as Microsoft SQL, Exchange, SharePoint, and Windows file servers, as well as the virtual infrastructure and network infrastructure they run on
  • Manage hybrid Microsoft 365 / Entra ID / Azure environment and multi-site network
  • Plan, coordinate, and execute IT projects from scoping through completion, including timelines, milestones, stakeholder communication, and vendor coordination
  • Design, implement, and maintain integrations between enterprise systems, line-of-business applications, and data sources
  • Develop, maintain, and optimize SQL databases, queries, and automated data import/integration processes (e.g., SSIS/ETL or scripted equivalents), ensuring data integrity across systems
  • Develop and maintain system, network, and integration documentation
  • Work and communicate effectively with users from all departments within the company, vendors/contacts from other companies, and audiences that may not always be comprised of technical personnel
  • Provide end user technical support for computer-related hardware, software, printer, network, and mobile device issues
  • Install, configure, service, repair, and maintain hardware and software for network services, storage networking devices, and servers
  • Monitor and Administer security systems and related policies (e.g. InTune, EntraID, and others)
  • Maintain daily and/or monthly backups and support disaster recovery processes
  • Diagnose complex issues and provide temporary/permanent solutions to resolve those issues quickly in high-stress situations
  • Travel, if necessary, to troubleshoot network issues or support project deployments across sites
  • Other duties as assigned


Requirements

KNOWLEDGE & SKILL REQUIREMENTS

Required:

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Proven experience as a System Administrator, Network Administrator, or similar role
  • Knowledge of system security (e.g. intrusion detection systems) and data backup/recovery processes
  • Demonstrated experience in managing complex networks consisting of VLANs, Routing protocols, VPN, QoS, Wireless Access and Firewalls
  • Experience managing virtual infrastructure such as Hyper-V, VMware and SAN technologies
  • Working knowledge of relational databases (e.g. Microsoft SQL Server)
  • Demonstrated ability to plan, prioritize, and manage projects and tasks through to completion
  • High levels of interpersonal skills and communication with all levels of management
  • Able to multitask, prioritize, and manage own time efficiently
  • At least one of the following:
  • Project management: Demonstrated experience planning and delivering IT projects end to end - scoping, timelines, milestones, vendor coordination, and stakeholder communication - with at least one example of a multi-site or multi-stakeholder deployment
  • Data integration: Demonstrated experience building and maintaining integrations between enterprise systems and data sources, including SQL development and automated import/ETL processes (SSIS, scripted equivalents, or APIs)

Preferred:

  • Associate's degree or higher in Computer Science, Information Systems, software engineering, or related field
  • Scripting and automation experience (e.g. PowerShell, Python)
  • Experience with Azure, EntraID, Microsoft 365, Hybrid Exchange, InTune Management, and Microsoft Teams / Teams Phone highly desirable

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

To successfully perform the duties of this position, the employee is regularly required to effectively remain in a stationary position for long periods of time, operate a computer and other office productivity machinery, communicate with others in person and over the phone, and move about inside an office. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to lift and move up to 30 lbs. They will be required to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, and crouch. Specific vision abilities required by the position include close vision, distance vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. This position also requires the ability to work in a constant state of alertness and in a safe manner.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

This position is performed in an office setting with exposure to computer screens and fluorescent lighting. It requires the regular use of a computer, keyboard, mouse, and multi-line telephone system. The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet. Travel to other rural communities, Anchorage, and other states may be required via aircraft of varying sizes. Some travel may require staying overnight. Must also be willing and able to travel on ATVs, small boats and in small planes, as well as board vessels and move around in small spaces. The non-office related work environment can be noisy.
