What are IT Night jobs?

IT Night jobs refer to positions in the information technology sector that require employees to work during nighttime hours. These roles often involve monitoring systems, maintaining network security, troubleshooting technical issues, and ensuring that IT infrastructure runs smoothly outside of regular business hours. IT Night jobs are vital in organizations that operate 24/7 or need continuous IT support, such as hospitals, financial institutions, and large corporations. They may involve working as a night shift IT support specialist, network administrator, or systems operator. Night shifts can offer unique benefits such as flexible schedules and shift differentials but may also require adjustments to sleep and personal routines.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as an IT Night Support Specialist, and why are they important?

To thrive as an IT Night Support Specialist, you need a strong understanding of computer systems, troubleshooting, and network infrastructure, typically supported by a degree in IT or relevant certifications like CompTIA A+ or Microsoft Certified Professional. Familiarity with ticketing systems, remote desktop tools, and monitoring software is essential for managing incidents overnight. Excellent problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently under minimal supervision help you stand out in this role. These skills are crucial for maintaining system uptime and resolving issues quickly during off-peak hours, ensuring business continuity.

What are some common challenges IT Night staff face, and how can they best prepare for these situations?

IT Night staff often encounter unique challenges such as responding to urgent technical incidents with limited on-site support, managing system maintenance during low-traffic hours, and ensuring uninterrupted operations overnight. Staying organized, maintaining clear documentation, and developing strong troubleshooting skills can help address these issues efficiently. Building good communication with day teams and following established protocols are also key to ensuring smooth handoffs and minimizing the impact of any overnight issues.

Night Staff Housing Security @ Bandon Dunes Golf Resort

Bandon, OR

Part-time

Job description

If you're at your best after dark and you take pride in keeping a community safe, this role is built for you. As our Night Staff Housing Security Officer, you'll be the steady, watchful presence across our employee housing campus through the overnight hours — patrolling the grounds, responding when something needs attention, and giving the people who live there real peace of mind while they sleep. It's quiet work most nights, and that's the point: when you're doing the job well, our tenants barely notice you're there. This role covers overnight shifts Friday through Sunday, roughly 6:30 p.m. to 5 a.m.

About Bandon Dunes Golf Resort:
Bandon Dunes is a world-class golf resort located on the Oregon Coast near the charming community of Bandon. Guests come to experience golf as it was meant to be at Bandon Dunes' six distinct golf courses. That includes five 18-hole courses, which all rank among the top 16 public courses in the United States, according to Golf Digest. The resort is also home to an award-winning par-3 course, Bandon Preserve. A second par-3 course, Shorty's, will open in 2024. The two short courses are 'Courses with a Mission,' with all net proceeds funding the Bandon Dunes Charitable Foundation. The Foundation supports communities along the South Coast of Oregon. Beyond premier golf, guests delight in a variety of dining options at Bandon Dunes’ collection of restaurants. Whether you're looking to enjoy locally-sourced, Pacific-Northwest cuisine accompanied by an award-winning wine list, or prefer kicking back in a Scottish-style setting with traditional pub fare and local microbrews, there is something for everyone.

Working at Bandon Dunes is a dream for golf fans, outdoor enthusiasts, and hospitality professionals alike. The Bandon Dunes team works together to create trips of a lifetime for our guests. We are passionate stewards of our resort, our community, and our environment. As an endlessly curious group, we ask questions, share ideas, and always look for a better way. With a hard-working attitude, we help guide our guests through their pure golf experience, immersed in Oregon’s natural beauty and away from the demands of daily life.

What You'll Do:
  • Keep watch over the places people call home. You'll patrol designated housing areas throughout the night, maintaining a visible, reassuring presence that helps tenants feel secure in their own community.
  • Be the first response when something happens. From emergency calls to security concerns, you'll respond quickly and take the appropriate action, working alongside night resort security for full coverage.
  • Document what matters. You'll write clear incident reports and coordinate with management and HR so issues get tracked, followed up on, and resolved properly.
  • Partner with the people who keep us safe. When situations call for it, you'll work directly with local law enforcement, sharing the information they need to do their jobs.
  • Stay a step ahead. Regular foot patrols and a consistent presence in tenant areas help prevent problems before they start, rather than just reacting to them.
What Makes You a Great Fit:
  • You stay calm when things get unpredictable. You can think clearly under pressure and handle multiple priorities at once, often with little direct supervision.
  • You communicate clearly, in writing and in person. You can write a coherent incident report and talk to tenants, coworkers, and law enforcement with the same level of professionalism.
  • You show up reliable and steady. A positive attitude and a professional presence matter most in the moments when people are counting on you.
  • You've spent time around security work. Experience in security, corrections, or law enforcement is a plus — but we're just as interested in good judgment and a dependable nature.
A Few Things to Know:
  • This role works overnight shifts Friday through Sunday, roughly 6:30 p.m. to 5 a.m., including weekends and holidays.
  • You'll be on your feet for much of the shift — standing, walking, and patrolling for up to 5 hours at a stretch, with occasional lifting up to 50 lbs.
  • A valid Oregon driver's license with a clean driving record is required.
  • This position requires passing a background check and a drug test as a condition of employment.
Perks and Benefits For Full Time Employees:
  • Comprehensive Benefits Package: Enjoy a well-rounded benefits package that covers your health, wellness, and financial future.
  • Paid Time Off: Take the time you need to relax and recharge with our PTO plan.
  • Free Golf Privileges: Tee off at some of the most iconic courses in the world with complimentary golf access.
  • Quarterly Incentives: When our team meets resort-wide performance goals, we get rewarded.
  • Complimentary Lunch: Stay energized with a complimentary lunch in our Staff Cafe during your shift.
  • Resort Discounts: Save on dining and merchandise throughout the resort.
  • Supportive Work Environment: Be part of a team that supports your growth and success, with opportunities to thrive in a collaborative atmosphere.
  • Career Growth: Take advantage of continuous training and development opportunities to advance your career.

If you're reliable, level-headed, and ready to work nights, we'd like to talk to you. We encourage you to apply even if you don't meet every qualification listed above.

At Bandon Dunes Golf Resort, we are proud to be an equal opportunity employer. We value diversity and are committed to creating an inclusive environment for all employees.
