Job description

POSITION SUMMARY
The IT Intern will support the Information Technology department by assisting with day-to-day technical support, hardware and software maintenance, inventory management, and basic troubleshooting activities. This position is designed to provide students pursuing a career in Information Technology, Computer Science, Cybersecurity, or a related field with practical, hands-on experience in a manufacturing environment.
The IT Intern will gain exposure to network infrastructure, end-user support, cybersecurity best practices, business systems, and IT project work while developing professional skills and technical knowledge.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Technical Support
  • Assist employees with basic computer, printer, and technology-related issues.
  • Provide first-level troubleshooting for hardware and software concerns.
  • Support workstation setup, relocation, and deployment activities.
  • Assist with password resets and user account maintenance under supervision.
  • Escalate complex technical issues to appropriate IT personnel.

Hardware and Software Management
  • Configure and prepare computers, laptops, tablets, and other devices for deployment.
  • Install approved software and updates on company devices.
  • Assist with equipment inventory tracking and asset management.
  • Help maintain organized records of company technology assets.

Network and Systems Support
  • Assist with basic network troubleshooting activities.
  • Support maintenance of printers, scanners, and peripheral devices.
  • Observe and participate in network, server, and infrastructure projects as assigned.
  • Learn and follow cybersecurity and data protection procedures.

Project Support
  • Assist with IT improvement initiatives and department projects.
  • Help document procedures, work instructions, and technical processes.
  • Participate in testing of software updates and system improvements.
  • Support data collection and reporting activities as needed.

Administrative Responsibilities
  • Maintain confidentiality of company information and employee data.
  • Follow all company safety, security, and IT policies.
  • Complete assigned training and development activities.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements
Education
  • High school senior, recent high school graduate, or currently enrolled in a technical school, community college, or university pursuing Information Technology, Computer Science, Cybersecurity, Information Systems, or a related field.
  • Minimum GPA requirement may apply if participating through a school-sponsored program.

Preferred Knowledge and Skills
  • Basic understanding of Microsoft Windows and Microsoft Office applications.
  • Interest in computers, technology, networking, or cybersecurity.
  • Strong willingness to learn and take initiative.
  • Good communication and customer service skills.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism.
  • Ability to follow instructions and work independently when appropriate.

Experience
  • Previous IT experience is not required.
  • Participation in technology classes, certifications, school projects, robotics, coding clubs, or personal technology projects is preferred but not required.
