Job description

Overview
IT Network Analyst III will be responsible for managing and optimizing the organization's network infrastructure to ensure seamless and efficient operations. Including a critical role in designing, implementing, maintaining, and resolving complex technical issues on LAN, WAN, VPN, and wireless systems. Provide support to other teams to ensure business continuity with strong troubleshooting skills and the ability to effectively prioritize issues, implement solutions, and manage competing demands in a fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities
• Configure and manage network access switches to connect computers, printers, and servers within the City's infrastructure
• Knowledge of managed and unmanaged Ethernet switches and understanding their best use cases
• Design and implement complex network configurations, including advanced port setups to optimize performance and security
• Specialize in advanced switching operations, encompassing Data Center environments, Nexus switches, and Wireless LAN Controllers (WLCs)
• Configure and manage network routers to establish and optimize Layer 3 connections, linking networks and enabling reliable network access across shared and private connections
• Work with circuit types, Fiber, Ethernet, T1, ISDN, and PRI, ensuring optimal performance
• Responsibilities include network design, documentation, and advanced internal/external routing within the City's network additionally, contributes to special projects and network security
• Oversee network administration tasks, including maintenance, monitoring, system testing, and diagnostics, while contributing to the continuous improvement of network architecture
• Collaborate effectively with the service desk, application teams, and other departments to efficiently resolve tasks and technical issues
• Work closely with other IT Network Analysts
• Advanced network design and implementation, managing projects, researching and recommending network solutions, and assisting with budget analysis
• Contribute to overseeing the City's internet infrastructure, configuring security appliances, and managing call manager systems (IVR, PRIs)
• Expertise in advanced network protocols (BGP, EIGRP, and OSPF) to design, deploy, and maintain complex network configurations on core switches and routers
• Must maintain safety and technical knowledge, skills, and adaptability by keeping required licenses and relevant certifications current
• The ability to prioritize tasks, assignments, and network projects to effectively resolve communication, data, and infrastructure issues
• The role involves working independently or leading a team, collaborating with other IT Network Analysts and IT System Analysts to provide support services
• May be asked to perform other duties as assigned
Position Type and Typical Hours of Work
• Exempt - Full-Time, Monday - Friday, 8:00 am - 5:00 pm
  • Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays is a schedule requirement

Qualifications
• Associate's Degree (AA/AS); or 2 year technical certificate
• Four (4) Years of Experience
Licenses and Certifications
Required
• A valid driver's license is required; successful out-of-state candidates must be able to obtain a valid Texas driver's license within 90 days of hire
• Must Pass Criminal Justice Information System Background (CJIS) Check
• CCNA Certified Cisco Network Associate required within six (6) months of hire
Preferred Qualifications
• CCNP, CCVP, CCSP, or equivalent certification preferred
