Information Technology (IT) Manager

Starting Pay: 70,000 per year


Job description


SUMMARY OF POSITION’S PURPOSE: Installs, maintains, and supports instructional and administrative computers in the district.


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS 1. EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION: Associate degree, with at least eighteen semester hours in electronics, telecommunications, computer science, or electrical engineering, or any combination of these fields. In lieu of associate’s degree, at least one (1) certifications in technical support, desktop support, or networking support may be substituted. These may include but are not limited to CompTIA Network+, CompTIA A+, and Microsoft certifications. Additionally, in lieu of formal education and certifications, a minimum of two (2) years’ experience in computer and network support role with hands-on experience


EXPERIENCE: At least two (2) years of professional level experience.


SKILLS: Working knowledge of computer repair, computer systems, and application support. Ability to communicate clearly in oral and written form with a diverse group of administrators, teachers, and students.


OTHER REQUIREMENTS: Must be very flexible with respect to work schedules in 3 different parishes. This position requires weekend and night working schedules.


DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Provides on-going technical support for users of these systems. Trains users. Installs and maintains stand-alone and networked instructional and administrative computer hardware and software. Assists users in defining, documenting, and resolving problems. Provides help desk service to users. Provides courteous and prompt service to all internal and external customers including students, parents, co-workers, etc. Prioritizes and addresses requests and assignments in a professional manner to develop cooperative relationships and to ensure that student and employee records confidentiality is assured. Identifies opportunities and recommends methods to improve service, work processes, and computer dependability. Assists in the implementation of quality improvement initiatives. Assists co-workers in the completion of tasks and assignments to ensure continuity of service. Orients new co-workers and actively supports teamwork throughout the school system. Supports and coordinates with the IT Support Administrators on projects and other tasks. Performs other duties as required.
