This is a hybrid remote position requiring a minimum of three onsite days per week at our Reston headquarters.

Position Overview

At RA, our people are at the heart of everything we do. We are actively seeking a Director of IT Infrastructure and Systems to join our team! This position serves as the strategic leader responsible for the Association’s enterprise technology environment, including infrastructure, cybersecurity, cloud systems, enterprise applications, and long-term technology planning. This role plays a critical part in ensuring secure, reliable, and scalable technological operations while supporting innovation and operational efficiency across the organization.

The Director of IT Infrastructure and Systems will lead enterprise infrastructure modernization, cloud transformation, cybersecurity initiatives, and digital transformation efforts in alignment with organizational goals and industry best practices. This position is responsible for developing technology strategies, overseeing enterprise systems and vendor partnerships, managing operational and cybersecurity risk, and identifying emerging technologies and automation opportunities that enhance business operations and service delivery.

This role provides leadership and direction to the IT Program Manager and partners closely with senior leadership and departments across the Association to assess business needs, prioritize technology initiatives, and support strategic organizational objectives.

What You’ll Bring

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Information Systems, Cybersecurity, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Eight to ten years of progressively responsible experience in IT infrastructure, enterprise systems administration, or technology operations, including leadership or supervisory experience.
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft 365, Azure, Active Directory, Exchange, networking, virtualization, cloud infrastructure, and enterprise systems administration.
  • Strong knowledge of cybersecurity principles, enterprise security frameworks, disaster recovery planning, and risk management best practices.
  • Experience leading infrastructure modernization projects, cloud transformations, system implementations, and enterprise technology initiatives.
  • Knowledge of emerging technologies, automation platforms, and responsible AI governance within enterprise environments.
  • Strong leadership, organizational, and project management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to translate technical information for non-technical audiences.
  • Experience developing technology policies, governance frameworks, strategic roadmaps, and technical documentation.
  • Ability to build strong relationships with leadership, vendors, consultants, and cross-functional teams.
  • Strong customer service mindset and commitment to supporting organizational operations and employee experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Advanced degree in Information Technology, Cybersecurity, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Certifications such as Microsoft Certified: Enterprise Administrator Expert, CISSP, CompTIA Security+, ITIL, PMP, or related certifications.
  • Experience supporting hybrid cloud environments and enterprise cybersecurity programs.
  • Experience working in nonprofit, community association, local government, or public-sector environments.
  • Experience overseeing IT governance, vendor management, and long-term strategic technology planning.
