Highlights of the Job

We are hiring a full-time permanent, Manager, Advanced Metering Infrastructure, working out of Edmonton, AB in the South Service Center.

The Manager, Advanced Metering Infrastructure is accountable for ensuring the safe, reliable, and compliant operation of EPCOR's Meter Lab, metering assets, and AMI network, while supporting employees and the public. The position leads teams responsible for meter certification, testing, maintenance, and Measurement Canada compliance, ensuring the accuracy and integrity of metering data and supporting systems. The Manager also leads a team responsible for monitoring, maintaining, and optimizing AMI network performance to ensure reliable communications and data delivery that support billing, smart metering operations, customer service, and business analytics. Reporting to the Associate Director, Meter Operations, the role provides operational leadership, resource management, and continuous improvement to achieve business objectives and service performance targets.What You'd Be Responsible For Contribute to the development and execution of Meter Operations plans and strategic priorities, ensuring alignment and understanding across Meter Lab and AMI Network Operations, including metering certification, quality management, and network assurance. Ensure on-going effective positioning and appropriate relationships with Measurement Canada, AUC, market participants, Meter Operations, and internal departments. Anticipate challenges and obstacles to delivering the annual work plan. Identify the necessary budget, resources, and staff required to deliver the annual work plan. Execute the annual objectives and priorities (annual work plan). Remove roadblocks and address issues / problems / concerns related to ensure annual targets can be met. Respond to shifts in priorities as required. Develop, implement and review processes, procedures and work practices to ensure compliance to policies, standards and regulatory requirements while developing strategies to mitigate risk. Identify and implement process changes to ensure effective, efficient service delivery. Ensure adherence to processes, procedures and standards. Provide ongoing oversight and feedback required to maintain Meter Operations Quality Management System. Conduct Meter Lab and field inspections and observations to promote the safe execution of work. Ensure that work practices and operational procedures align with EPCOR's zero-injury culture. Create and manage a strong team of employees, including determination of optimal numbers, recruitment, retention, and development. Maintain a capable, committed, and high-performing team(s). Set appropriate performance objectives for each employee through regular touch points and formal performance reviews. Hold employees accountable for achieving results and demonstrating required behaviors. Ensure the Meter Lab and AMI HES Teams develop, perform, or assist in the timely and complete response to customer issues as required. Collaborate cross functionally to resolve issues. Consult with customers or stakeholders to create understanding and resolve issues or concerns. Collaborate with external stakeholders such as technology vendors, The City of Edmonton, Measurement Canada, 3rd Party Utilities. Electricity Canada, etc. Provide technical insights and expertise to support decision-making.What's Required to Be Successful

University Degree in Business, Engineering, or Computing Science; or Technical Diploma in Business, Engineering, or Computer Science with 5-7 years related utility experience.

Minimum 3-5 years supervisory experience.

Knowledge of Measurement Canada standards, requirements and metering principles, desired.

Knowledge of communication networks and cybersecurity principles desired.

Demonstrated ability to develop and execute strategic plans to meet set requirements.

Demonstrated ability to manage budgets.

Excellent written and oral communication skills.

Excellent analytical and problem solving skills.

Experience in process improvement

Other Important Facts About This Job

This position is not eligible for EPCOR's Where We Work program as the manager is required to work on site to support employees working in safety sensitive operational roles.
