Job description

Salary: $50,000-$55,000/year

Ohio Citizen Action is excited to welcome an IT Specialist to our team who will play a key role in supporting our staff, improving our technology systems, and helping power our mission-driven work across Ohio. This role is responsible for managing and maintaining the organization's IT infrastructure; ensuring systems, networks and security operate efficiently and reliably across all 3 operations sites in OH. Travel will be required as needed


Responsibilities

  • Installing, configuring, and maintaining hardware and software systems, including servers, workstations, and network devices.
  • Monitoring system performance, conducting regular backups, and implementing disaster recovery procedures to ensure data integrity and availability.
  • Managing user accounts, access permissions, and security protocols, including firewalls, antivirus software, and software updates.
  • Troubleshooting hardware, software, and network issues, providing technical support to staff, and resolving IT-related problems efficiently.
  • Collaborating with other organizational professionals, such as the Database Director, to implement system improvements and optimize IT operations.
  • Developing and enforcing IT policies, procedures, and best practices to maintain system security and compliance.
  • Maintaining inventories of IT assets, licenses, and warranties, and ensuring proper documentation of processes and system changes.
  • Travel between OCA sites to perform IT related work and troubleshooting where needed.
  • Routinely meet daily, weekly, and monthly deadlines.
  • Other duties as assigned.


Qualifications

  • Technical expertise in network management, server administration, database handling, and operating systems.
  • Problem-solving skills to diagnose and resolve complex IT issues quickly.
  • Communication and teamwork abilities to provide support and collaborate with colleagues effectively.
  • A bachelors degree in computer science, information technology, or a related field is required.
  • Familiarity with cybersecurity principles, system monitoring tools, and IT compliance standards.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks.
  • Ability to act with integrity, professionalism, confidentiality.
  • Conduct work in a manner that consistently aligns with OCAs core values.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite, Google Workspace, or related software, and the willingness to learn new systems as needed.
  • Commitment to Ohio Citizen Actions mission and goals.
  • Ability to work independently but with a collaborative approach.


Additional Preferred Skills and Knowledge

  • CompTIA A+ and Network+ certifications are preferred.
  • Voter Activation Network (VAN) experience preferred.
  • Nonprofit or political experience is a plus.
  • Other relevant IT certifications are a plus.
