Job description

This is a job skill that is performed in the US Army or Army Reserves as a Soldier. Enlisting is required and will undergo pre-qualifying questions, an interview, an academic test, and a physical. This is an initial entry job skill, no experience necessary. The US Army will send you to school to learn the job and get the necessary certifications.

Overview:
Information technology specialists are responsible for maintaining, processing, and troubleshooting military computer systems/operations.

Job Duties:
  • Maintenance of networks, hardware, and software.
  • Provide customer and network administration services.
  • Construct, edit, and test computer programs.

Requirements:
Those who want to serve must first take a series of tests that helps you better understand your strengths and identify which Army jobs are best for you. Ages 17-34; 35-39 Requires a Waiver.

Training:
Job training for an information technology specialist requires 10 weeks of Basic Combat Training and 20 weeks of Advanced Individual Training with on-the-job instruction.

Some of the Skills You'll Learn Are:
  • Use of computer consoles and peripheral equipment.
  • Computer systems concepts.
  • Planning, designing, and testing computer systems.
