Role Overview
The Systems Technician is one of the most visible IT staff members to schools/end users and serves as IT Ambassador.ย  They provide technical direction, end user and systems support of all applications, client
connectivity, desktops, mobile devices, peripherals, and desktop management infrastructure.
Minimum Requirements
High school diploma/GED.
Two (2) years of progressive experience in installing, upgrading, troubleshooting, and repairing operating systems, hardware, and software applications within a Microsoft Windows and Apple environment.
Excellent customer service and team building skills, with a genuine curiosity and passion for solving technology challenges and helping others.
Current CompTIA A+ certification or ability to obtain within one (1) year of hire date.
Understanding of enterprise device imaging (MAC and Windows).
Demonstrated ability to generate reports, monitor systems health, and proactively resolve problems through using desktop management or other mechanisms.
Demonstrated experience and ability to configure, install, deploy and troubleshoot desktop applications.
Demonstrated experience with Active Directory administration and user/group management.
Demonstrated understanding of TCP/IP and Ethernet technology including basic networking principles, including network troubleshooting (both in theory and in practice) for connectivity issues such as DHCP, DNS, and use of tools such as PING, NSLOOKUP and NETSTAT, along with ethernet cabling standards.
Demonstrated knowledge of various desktop/mobile operating systems and hardware technologies including software/hardware troubleshooting, upgrades and component replacement.
Possess a valid driver's license with no court ordered restrictions.
Ability to perform the essential functions of the job with or without reasonable accommodations.
Preferred Qualifications
Associates Degree in an Information Technology related area.
Network/Systems administration experience.
Microsoft SCCM desktop management experience and JAMF mobile device management experience.
MAC, IOS/iPad, Chrome book and other mobile operating systems experience including troubleshooting, device management and software installations and repair.
Ability to automate and/or script processes or procedures such as software installations and customizations.
Work experience in K-12 educational setting.
Familiarity with WCPS policies, goals, and programs.
Role Responsibilities
Test and deploy enterprise workstation images using SCCM, PXE or related technologies for all WCPS computer systems.
Perform onsite and remote end-user troubleshooting and problem resolution.
Using systems desktop management technologies, monitors faults, performance, and capacity issues; prepares remediation and inventory reports, analyzes reports and takes proactive remediation action.
Evaluate hardware and software performance and interoperability testing under various applications, operating systems, hardware configurations, and software combinations.
Install, configure, maintain, troubleshoot and repair all technology resources including client connectivity, mobile and wireless devices, desktops, desktop sub-systems and peripherals.
Assign, maintain and update user accounts, user permissions, group memberships and passwords on assigned WCPS systems.
Assist with all end-user desktop and mobile applications (MS Office, Open Office, Google Apps, etc.).ย  Provide end-user training, documentation and support to improve the organizations' overall system proficiency.
Complete hardware, software and operating system troubleshooting, upgrades, maintenance, and repairs on computers, mobile devices, printers, peripherals and other information technology (both onsite and remotely using desktop management technologies).
Continuously identifies opportunities for process and quality improvement and implements applicable technologies and/or process changes.
Using a workflow management system, performs multi-tiered, incident, change management, problem resolution and end-user support.
Complete assigned projects including requirements analysis, quality control, implementation and development activities and system documentation within department defined Service Level Agreements (SLA's).
Maintain service, equipment, and software inventory records.
Implement the running of data cables, punch down jacks, patch cables and supervise contract personnel on large installation projects.
Remain current and competent by learning new technologies and obtaining certifications as requested by management and/or as identified by the employee and mutually agreed to by the supervisor.
Demonstrate courteous and professional demeanor to all stakeholders of Washington County Public Schools.
Perform other duties as required.
