Job description

TITLE: Citrix Engineer
POSITION: 6 month contract to hire
LOCATION: New York, New York 10017 (remote okay)
Specific responsibilities include:
  • Publish, deploy, and support business critical applications on static and MCS based Citrix servers in a Citrix Virtual Apps and Desktop 7 environment.
  • Create, maintain and update MCS based master images and static servers.
  • Manage and support Citrix and Microsoft based group policies.
  • Maintain and support App-V packaged applications.
  • Experience in supporting and tuning audio & video conferencing software such as Microsoft Teams, WebEx, Zoom in a Citrix HDX environment.
  • Experience supporting Citrix FAS, Cloud Connector, ADC, Studio, Director, StoreFront
  • Manage enterprise-wide Distributed File System (DFS).
  • Implement, manage and support internally hosted applications as a part of the Application Services team.
  • Split time approximately 40:60 between project-based and support-based work; split may change depending on workload.
  • Work on projects that include multi-tier application review, onboarding, maintenance and file server migration and consolidation.
  • Support incoming application incident and request tickets in a fast-paced environment.
  • Manage and respond to daily alerts from monitoring systems (SCOM, Citrix Director and xMatters)
  • Create application runbooks and maintain existing documentation for knowledge sharing and training.
  • Communicate proposed changes and improvements to ensure optimal performance and reliability.
  • Occasional weekend work or evening hours when scheduled work requires, including on-call rotation.
  • Work on other ad hoc duties as assigned.
Skills & experience required:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems, or equivalent work experience
  • 2-5 years of relevant, hands-on experience supporting Windows Server 2016 and higher in an Enterprise Environment
  • Proficient in supporting Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, IIS, Virtualization (VMware) and SSL.
  • Excellent troubleshooting skills with a scientific approach to problem investigation and resolution
  • Strong understanding of generally accepted system administration methodologies and tools such as Wireshark, Fiddler, Procmon and others.
  • In-depth understanding of common protocols and networking such as TCP/IP, UDP, TLS/SSL, VLANs, MAC addresses, subnets, and firewalls
  • Good written documentation skills and demonstrable experience of documenting systems and procedures
  • Experience with and willingness to follow a strict change management and incident tracking process.
  • Functional knowledge of PowerShell scripting and desire to become more advanced.
  • Passion for providing outstanding support for inbound incident tickets, as well as foresight to manage risk and scale; must know when to work independently, and when to escalate.
  • Experience with server management tools such as SCCM or similar
  • Proficient in IIS management including app pools, site authentication and protocol binding.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, including an ability to interact with users of varying technical skill levels.
  • Detail-oriented individual with the ability to work with limited supervision and managed his/her own time.
  • Collaborative within the team for special projects or troubleshooting and work across various IT groups and business units.
  • Experience working in a highly secured and least privilege access environment.
