About Offworld:

Offworld Industries Ltd. (Offworld) is the independent studio behind the successful military first-person shooter game, "Squad". Offworld was formed in 2014 by more than 15 developers who had worked together on the well-known Project Reality mod for Battlefield 2. The founding purpose of the team was to bring a standalone successor of this acclaimed mod to market and build a game development studio and a livelihood from that foundation.

Fast forward to 2026, Offworld has more than 140 employees and is rapidly growing. We have been expanding the studio into serving as a publisher supporting mods and have released our newest title, "Starship Troopers: Extermination", a 16-player PvE first-person shooter based on the 1997 cult-classic film.


We are looking for an IT Manager to join our Technology Department in New Westminster, BC. The perfect person will be passionate about their role within the company, excited to collaborate with technically minded individuals and provide Offworld the skills and support to continue to be successful.

Job Duties:

  • Oversee IT operations
  • Implement, manage and maintain companywide system administration
  • Software licenses for internal and partners
  • On/off-boarding for employees
  • Implement, manage and maintain company IT infrastructure together with relevant teams
  • Manage the company helpdesk
  • Identify and eliminate security risks
  • Provide the business with stable and protected IT support system
  • Be available for after-hours\weekend support as required
  • Analyze business requirements for operational needs
  • Assist with the installation and configuration of hardware and software
  • Conduct progress and budget forecasts and prepare reports for upper management
  • Communicate with areas of the business to identify their IT requirements and advise on ideal work practices
  • Build and maintain relationship with outside vendors
  • Contribute positively to the culture of the business
  • Contribute to office planning regarding IT infrastructure

Skill Requirements:

  • A high-performer and forward thinker consistently looking to improve the effectiveness of the business
  • 3 years minimum experience working as an IT manager or similar
  • 6 years minimum experience working in IT
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • A high level understanding and experience in the following areas:
    • Computer game development hardware
    • Game server hosting and development environments
      • Windows AD, Windows servers, Linux, SSH, Virtualization architectures (VMs, Containers, etc.), Virtualization environments (Hyper-V, Proxmox, etc.)
    • Networks - internal and external
      • Wireguard, VPN
      • VLAN
      • PFSense
    • Storage systems
      • SAN/NAS (TrueNAS, Dell PowerVault)
    • Security
      • FW rules/settings
      • Resource and access isolation
    • Solid analytical and problem-solving skills
    • Ability to prioritize tasks/requests from all areas of the business
    • Ability to understand and act appropriately to critical issues

Desirable Skills and Attributes:

  • Bachelor's or higher degree in Computer science, Information Technology or related field
  • 1 year of IT experience in games or other entertainment software development sectors
  • A strong understanding of the IT infrastructure required for games development
  • Working knowledge of relevant coding languages and security protocols
    • Preferably Python and Shell scripting
  • The ability to push for improvements and provide solid evidence for any proposal
  • Familiarity with DevOps principles and processes
  • Familiarity with deployment and orchestration Automation
    • Such as: Ansible, Saltstack, Puppet, Chef


This is a full-time permanent position with the requirement to work from our office at least five days a week.

The typical salary range for this position is$105,000 - $130,000 CADper year and is subject to change. The final agreed upon salary is based on work location and may vary depending on factors such as job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
