Job description

Chicago, United States | Posted on 06/16/2026

We are Hazel Seybert Consulting - Aboutique consulting firm dedicated to helping leaders and their teams transform their business, particularly in the area of analytics and project management.

Job Description Overview

We are seeking an Agile Project Manager for a 3-month Temp-to-Perm contract role in Chicago, IL.

Our client is currently modernizing their business through a targeted portfolio of technology initiatives. A critical pillar of this effort is an enterpriseโ€‘wide project to scale their centralized data repositoryโ€”the core 'source of truth' powering corporate reporting and insights. Walking into this role, you will drive scrum delivery and bridge the gap between technical execution and business intent. By orchestrating workflows across data engineering pods, business leads, and semantic layer leads, you will ensure the enterprise data foundation is scalable, governed, and ready for highโ€‘impact analytics.

Important Location Requirement: This role is open only to individuals located in the Chicago, IL area. It operates on a hybrid schedule, requiring you to be in the office Tuesday through Thursday.

What You Will Do
  • Agile/Scrum Leadership: Facilitate daily standโ€‘ups, endโ€‘ofโ€‘day scrum checkโ€‘ins, and manage structured 2โ€‘week sprint cycles across parallel technical and businessโ€‘facing streams.
  • Crossโ€‘Functional Orchestration: Act as the primary connective tissue between the Business Leads (defining data requirements), Data Engineers (building the ingestion pipelines), and Semantic Layer Leads (structuring data for performance and accessibility).
  • Execution & Delivery: Shepherd the ingestion, pipelining, and modeling of new enterprise data sources (e.g., integrating SAP, Salesforce) into the centralized cloud data foundation.
  • Semantic & Data Scaling: Coordinate the deepening and optimization of established data domains with a heavy focus on data quality, standard definition mapping, metrics governance, and businessโ€‘facing consumption layers.
  • Endโ€‘toโ€‘End Project Governance: Define, track, and manage comprehensive project schedules, critical path milestones, and key performance indicators (KPIs) to ensure predictable delivery timelines.
  • Scope & Resource Management: Monitor project scope ruthlessly to prevent scope creep, managing technical backlog refinement and ensuring resources are optimally allocated across technical pods.
  • Risk & Dependency Management: Proactively identify technical roadblocks, map crossโ€‘functional dependencies between engineering and semantic modeling, and deliver actionable, dataโ€‘driven status updates to project leadership.
  • Communication & Reporting: Serve as the central point of contact for project status, translating technical velocity and delivery metrics into clear, structured progress reports for stakeholders and leadership.
  • Culture Alignment: Drive a culture of immediate resolutionโ€”jumping into a huddle or sending a quick chat to resolve alignment issues dynamically rather than drawing out decisions over long email threads.
Requirements
  • Background: 5โ€“7+ years of technical project management, Agile Delivery, or Scrum Master experience.
  • Cloud & Tools Core: Understanding of cloud data platforms (GCP, AWS, Azure etc.), understanding of ERPs/CRMs (e.g., SAP, Salesforce, D365), and expert proficiency in Agile tools (Jira, Confluence, Azure DevOps, etc.).
  • Leadership Experience: Must have proven situation leadership at the Director/Sr. Director level.
  • Certifications: Certified ScrumMaster (CSM), Professional Scrum Master (PSM), or Project Management Professional (PMP) credentials are a significant plus.

The client offers: Comprehensive benefits package includes health, dental and vision insurance, 401(k) with match, employee assistance programs, paid time off, paid sick time off, paid holidays, paid parental leave, and professional development opportunities.
