Part-time

Job description

Kitchen Istanbul is seeking a sommelier to join our team. Candidates must have open availability for Thursday, Sunday, and Monday evenings. Service experience of at least one year is required. Previous sommelier experience is a plus, but more important is a dynamic, contemporary approach to wine and a willingness to learn.

Role overview:

As a sommelier, you will be expected to demonstrate deep familiarity with the Kitchen Istanbul wine list, providing recommendations across all formats and price points. You will also be expected to work collaboratively with servers to ensure a seamless dining experience for all guests.

Please note that we are a team-focused restaurant and encourage open communication and collaboration. While sommeliers are not expected to manage a section, your job includes running food and mastering the details of the menu.

Sommelier responsibilities:

  • Complete knowledge of the wine list, including BTG, BTB, and Three-Glass Progression
  • Willingness to learn about wine across all price points and regions, and to share that knowledge with guests
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Menu knowledge and ability to recognize allergies/dietary restrictions
  • Collaborative personality that will work alongside all members of service and kitchen team
  • Non-dogmatic approach to wine and service

We are a small restaurant with a tight-knit team and it’s important that everyone on the floor knows that we have each other's backs. There is no “not-my-job” mentality allowed.

In addition to your resume and any other materials, please provide a list or descriptions of some producers you admire.

We look forward to hearing from you.
