Job description

The NOC Engineer watches the signals that prevent client disruption: monitoring alerts, firewall health, backup jobs, patch status, endpoint issues, and network performance across managed environments.

Responsibilities
  • Monitor client networks, servers, endpoints, backup jobs, and alert queues for actionable events.
  • Troubleshoot SonicWall, Fortinet, Ubiquiti, switching, wireless, VPN, and ISP-related issues.
  • Validate backups, DR alerts, patch health, and monitoring coverage against Velocity standards.
  • Create clear escalations for systems engineers, vendors, and client stakeholders.
  • Contribute to runbooks, alert tuning, and standards alignment after recurring incidents.
Qualifications
  • Experience with network monitoring, alert triage, and ticket queues.
  • Working knowledge of firewalls, switches, wireless, VPN, DNS, DHCP, and endpoint/server monitoring.
  • Comfort interpreting backup, patch, and endpoint alerts.
  • Strong written escalation notes and incident timelines.
