Job description

Job Summary
Tax and advisory firm serving high-net-worth individuals and complex client groups across multiple entities.

We operate with a high-touch, concierge-level approach and are focused on delivering precision, clarity, and an elevated client experience.

This is a hybrid position based in Cranford, NJ and requires the ability to reliably commute to the office as needed.

We are seeking a Tax Manager to take ownership of client delivery, ensure high-quality work, and manage tax workflows across a portfolio of clients.

This role sits between the preparation team and firm leadership and is responsible for ensuring that all work is complete, accurate, and aligned before final review.

The ideal candidate is proactive, detail-oriented, and comfortable managing both technical work and client relationships in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

  • Own a portfolio of clients and serve as the primary point of contact

  • Review tax returns including 1040, 1120, 1120S, and 1065

  • Ensure all work is complete, accurate, and ready prior to final review

  • Manage timelines, deadlines, and expectations across multiple clients

  • Proactively communicate with clients and keep them informed

  • Identify missing information, risks, and issues early

  • Oversee workflow across multiple engagements and ensure timely delivery

  • Support and guide team members to maintain quality and consistency

  • Coordinate with offshore and internal team members on deliverables

  • Handle IRS notices and represent clients in IRS communication and calls

Qualifications

  • CPA or EA designation required, with the ability to independently handle IRS communication.

  • Required experience with CCH Axcess with the ability to operate independently

  • Strong experience in tax preparation and review

  • Experience managing multiple clients and deadlines

  • Proven ability to communicate directly with clients

  • Strong attention to detail and ability to catch issues early

  • Ability to take ownership and operate independently

Experience:

  • CCH Axcess: 2 years (Required)

License/Certification:

  • CPA or EA designation (Required)
