IRRIGATION PUMP SERVICE TECHNICIAN

Leibold Irrigation, Inc.

Position: Irrigation Pump Service Technician

Reports To: Pump Service Division Manager

FLSA Category: Exempt

Position Overview

Leibold Irrigation, Inc. is seeking an experienced and motivated Irrigation Pump Service Technician to join our growing Pump Station Service Division.

The Irrigation Pump Service Technician serves as a field service professional responsible for installing, troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining irrigation and water feature pumping systems. This individual works closely with clients, Golf Course Superintendents, Irrigation Managers, Project Managers, and fellow Leibold team members to ensure systems operate efficiently, reliably, and to the highest standards of quality.

The ideal candidate possesses strong mechanical and electrical aptitude, excellent communication skills, operational discipline, and a commitment to delivering exceptional customer service.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform preventative maintenance on irrigation and water feature pump stations.
  • Inspect, repair, and replace pumps, motors, seals, valves, bearings, and related equipment.
  • Troubleshoot variable frequency drives (VFDs), programmable logic controllers (PLCs), HMIs, electrical controls, and instrumentation.
  • Perform pump testing, flow testing, pressure analysis, and startup services.
  • Assist with pump station retrofits, panel replacements, and new installations.
  • Read and interpret schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical drawings.
  • Complete detailed service reports, documentation, and customer communication.
  • Maintain service vehicles, tools, and testing equipment.
  • Ensure compliance with all safety policies and regulatory requirements.
  • Represent Leibold Irrigation with professionalism and integrity throughout all customer interactions.
  • Proactively identify and resolve field issues while maintaining high standards of workmanship and efficiency.

Desired Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
  • Strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting abilities.
  • Ability to read and interpret schematics, electrical diagrams, and technical drawings.
  • Experience with pumps, irrigation systems, VFDs, PLCs, instrumentation, or industrial maintenance is preferred.
  • Experience with Hunter, Rainbird, and Toro irrigation systems is beneficial.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and make sound decisions in the field.
  • Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
  • Ability to climb ladders and work in confined mechanical spaces.
  • Proficiency with hand tools, power tools, and testing equipment.
