Duties and Responsibilities
This position will be responsible for using established guidelines and procedures to assist internal and external customer requests for information related to driver license, driver history, and motor vehicle records. The incumbent in this position will be responsible for researching and responding to information requests using various sources, such as National Drivers Registry, Motorist Maintenance, IRIS, CCIS, etc. This position will also be responsible for calculating, processing and posting record request fees and payments using the Cash Receipt System. 


Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Knowledge of basic office procedures.
  • Ability to review information for accuracy and completeness.
  • Skill in using Cash Receipt System (CRS), Comprehensive Case Information System (CCIS), DL Maintenance, Florida Registered Vehicles Information System (FRVIS), Florida Driver License Information System (FDLIS), Internet Records Information System (IRIS), Motorist Maintenance (MM), National Driver Registry (NDR) and Customer Service Center (CSC) Expert System.
  • Ability to maintain records and reports.
  • Ability to organize and maintain filing systems.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, verbally and in writing.
  • Skill in researching and verifying information.
  • Knowledge of and the ability to apply state and federal motor vehicle laws and DHSMV operations, policies and procedures.
  • Skill in providing customer service to diverse customers in a tactful manner, courteous and non-judgmental manner.
  • Ability to work well independently and with a team.
  • Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations.
  • Skill in operating office equipment such as a personal computer, multi-line telephone, microfiche viewer, copy machine, printer, scanner, fax machine and calculator.


Preferred Qualifications
Preference will be given to candidates with the following:

  • Professional work experience creating business correspondence to include letters, memos, and/or emails.
  • Professional work experience providing customer service to internal and external customers.
  • Professional work experience calculating and processing payments.

General Information

  • The elements of the selection process may include a skill assessment and/or oral interview.
  • Applicants being considered for employment will be required to submit to a fingerprint-based background investigation, which will include a check of the criminal history records of the FBI.  Fingerprints and associated information/biometrics will be retained in the FBI's Next Generation Identification (NGI) system and fingerprints may continue to be compared against fingerprints submitted to or retained by NGI.
  • FLHSMV employees are paid once a month on the last workday of each month.  All state employees are required to participate in the direct deposit program pursuant to s. 110.113 Florida Statutes.
