3rd Shift
POSITION SUMMARY
The Inpatient Registered Nurse is responsible for providing direct, evidence-based care to clients in the IPU. This individual coordinates directly with other members of the client’s treatment team to create, implement, and assess the progress of treatment plans. The Inpatient Registered Nurse should be knowledgeable on evidence-based practice, trauma-informed care, and clinical skills to provide optimal patient outcomes.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:
  • Lives out the INcompass Healthcare promise by consistently displaying compassion, treating all with dignity, and providing exceptional care for everyone.
  • Incorporates the six principles of trauma informed care throughout all aspects of their work.
  • Assesses and monitors client symptoms and response to treatment, sharing this information with treatment team to make clinical decisions
  • Provides direct supervision of patient care by nursing staff each shift when in charge nurse role
  • Administers, documents, and monitors effects of medications as ordered by provider
  • Promotes a calm, safe environment that supports a fundamental respect for all individuals, that enhances the client's overall experience and provides a safe and respectful person-centered model of care
  • Provides direct crisis support interventions to clients through de-escalation skills
  • Collaborates with treatment teams, family, pharmacy, primary care, and other healthcare entities to coordinate client care
  • Promotes and aids clients in ADLs, self-care, and other general health activities
  • Provides patient education related to general wellness, recovery, and medication management in individual and group settings
  • Attends and participates in scheduled staff meetings and trainings
  • Supports and aids mental health technician staff in duties and responsibilities
  • Demonstrating competency in Handle with Care techniques, including physical restraint, is a requirement of this position and is necessary for the safety of patients, staff, and others.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS (KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES)
  • Knowledge in psychiatric medication administration and side effects
  • Therapeutic communication skills
  • Commitment to recovery-based services
  • Organizational and leadership skills
Required education and experience (education and experience based on requirements that are job-related and consistent with business necessity):
  • Experience with mental health preferred.
  • Associate Degree in Science of Nursing
  • Registered Nurse licensure in state of Indiana
  • 1 year previous charge nurse experience preferred
