Job description

Resideo is growing a new software development organization focused on reinventing the smart home through software services and connected IoT products. Our platforms support millions of users and a rapidly expanding ecosystem of devices.
As a Senior Advanced Software Engineer, you will serve as a technical leader and architect for business-critical cloud and IoT platforms. You will define architecture, influence technical strategy across teams, and ensure solutions scale securely and reliably as the platform grows. This role combines deep hands-on engineering with organization-level technical leadership.
You will be involved across the entire system lifecycle - from early concept and architecture definition through production operations and end-of-life - while mentoring engineers and raising the technical bar across the organization.
JOB DUTIES:
  • Act as a technical lead and architect for highly scalable, low-latency backend services and APIs supporting consumer and professional smart-home experiences
  • Define, evolve, and communicate cloud and IoT platform architecture, ensuring alignment with long-term business and product strategy
  • Design and lead the implementation of highly distributed, fault-tolerant cloud systems operating at global scale
  • Provide architectural leadership for IoT device connectivity, data ingestion, and event-driven processing pipelines
  • Drive technical roadmap planning, balancing feature delivery with reliability, scalability, and maintainability
  • Lead design reviews and architectural decisions across teams, identifying risks and proposing durable solutions
  • Champion software quality, security, performance, and operational excellence across the platform
  • Partner with product management, security, and operations to deliver robust, customer-centric solutions
  • Mentor and develop engineers, serving as a technical role model and trusted advisor
  • Contribute hands-on to complex or high-risk engineering efforts while enabling teams to execute effectively

YOU MUST HAVE:
  • 7+ years of experience building and operating large-scale, consumer-facing or IoT software platforms
  • Demonstrated experience leading architecture and design of complex, distributed systems
  • Deep expertise in C# and .NET with strong knowledge of secure, cloud-native application development
  • Proven ability to design and deliver highly available, performant, and fault-tolerant services
  • Experience designing systems that handle high-volume event streams and request traffic
  • Track record of technical leadership and influence across multiple teams or initiatives

WE VALUE:
  • Expertise building and operating containerized platforms using Docker and Kubernetes at scale
  • Strong experience with CI/CD pipelines, automation, and DevOps best practices
  • Deep commitment to testing and quality, including unit, integration, and system testing
  • Strong grounding in distributed systems architecture (messaging, workflows, sagas, load balancing)
  • Experience designing Active-Active and multi-region systems
  • Proficiency with RESTful APIs, JSON, and modern service-to-service communication patterns
  • Cloud platform expertise (Azure preferred; AWS acceptable)
  • Knowledge of networking protocols (HTTP, gRPC, MQTT, TCP/UDP)
  • Experience with event streaming and messaging platforms (EventHub, Kafka, Kinesis, RabbitMQ, SQS)
  • Experience with relational and non-relational databases (SQL Server, Postgres, Cosmos DB, MongoDB, DynamoDB)
  • Proven experience operating mission-critical production systems, including incident response and root-cause analysis
  • Experience developing IoT device platforms and large-scale client-facing APIs
  • Ability to communicate complex technical concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • Strong collaboration skills and a passion for engineering excellence

WHAT'S IN IT FOR YOU:
  • Opportunity to shape the technical direction of a global IoT platform
  • Significant influence on architecture, tooling, and engineering standards
  • Collaboration across a diverse, global organization
  • Work on a full-stack, cloud-based security and smart-home platform
  • Competitive benefits including healthcare, retirement plans, paid time off, and holidays
