The Part-Time Student Program is primarily designed to augment the Company’s regular full-time staff and is for students who work in parallel to their school schedule YEAR-ROUND .

Your Responsibilities

As an Electrification Part-time Student for JD Power Systems located in Morrisville, NC you will:

  • Electrification system and vehicle development inclusive of design, analysis, vehicle integration, and testing of electric drive systems consisting of batteries, inverters, motors, converters, and chargers to meet vehicle performance goals. This includes requirements, system concepting, vehicle integration and interfaces, lab testing of system performance, and vehicle testing of performance.

This position is not available to students on immigration visas

What Skills You Need

  • Ideally you will be pursuing a BS, MS or PhD in an engineering program; others may apply
  • Electrification system and vehicle development inclusive of design, analysis, vehicle integration, and testing of electric drive systems consisting of batteries, inverters, motors, converters, and chargers to meet vehicle performance goals. This includes requirements, system concepting, vehicle integration and interfaces, lab testing of system performance, and vehicle performance testing.
  • Must be registered as a full-time student at a local accredited university
  • Completion of your sophomore year of studies is required by the time of the employment.
  • Graduation date of Spring of 2027 or later
  • Cumulative GPA of 2.8 or above
  • Must be able to commute to the work locations in Morrisville, NC on a regular basis.
  • Available to work 16-20 hours/week during the academic year
  • Available to work 35-40 hours/week during the summer
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Working knowledge and hands-on experience testing electrical components using standard lab equipment such as oscilloscopes, multimeters and power supplies
  • Familiarity with a symbolic programming language such as Simulink or LabView
  • Experience using modeling tools such as Matlab/Simulink or circuit analysis software
  • Experience with electric machines or inverters/converters/chargers or Li-Ion batteries or electric vehicle systems or electric drive control systems
