As an IOM Interpreter, your primary responsibility during surgical procedures is to monitor, interpret, and report real-time neurophysiological data—such as EEG, EMG, and evoked potentials—to the surgical team to help protect patients' neural function. You will work closely with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and other medical staff, providing immediate feedback and recommendations based on changes in neural signals. This role often involves preparing monitoring equipment, reviewing patient medical histories before surgery, and documenting key findings throughout each procedure. IOM Interpreters are integral members of the surgical team and must remain vigilant and responsive throughout each operation, contributing directly to positive patient outcomes.
