We are seeking a highly experienced Server IO specialist to join our team. If you possess a deep understanding of Server IO solutions and have a passion for architecting and designing complex, high performance and low power designs at advanced process nodes, we would be pleased to hear from you. This critical role involves architecture through commercialization of the end-to-end Server IO solution. This includes PCIe and CXL technologies as well as emerging technologies like UAL.
The ideal candidate will have extensive knowledge of CPU and SoC architecture for datacenter SoCs, including experience in microarchitecture and design of coherent IO subsystems. Expertise in the architecture of horizontal SoC technologies like coherency, power management, debug and RAS for IO subsystems is desired. Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills are essential for excelling in this position.
Minimum Qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or related field and 8+ years of Hardware Engineering, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Systems Engineering, or related work experience.
OR
Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or related field and 7+ years of Hardware Engineering, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Systems Engineering, or related work experience.
OR
PhD in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or related field and 6+ years of Hardware Engineering, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Systems Engineering, or related work experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Over 7 years of experience in architecting solutions for PCIe, CXL or similar IO technologies
  • Strong expertise in IOMMU / SMMU architecture and micro-architecture
  • In-depth understanding of fully coherent and IO coherent protocol flows
  • Detailed knowledge of multiprocessor system architecture, memory and IO subsystems, high-speed interconnects, operating systems/hypervisors, platform firmware
  • Master's in Computer Science/Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related field.
  • 10+ years in developing IO architecture for high-speed IO like PCIe Gen5-7, CXL2.0-CXL3.0
  • Expertise in performance microarchitecture of IO datapath between host and devices
  • Expertise in architecture and application of confidential compute technologies like TDISP, IDE and TSP for IO interfaces
  • Experience in architecture and development of multi-socket links like UPI, C2C or Infinity fabrics
  • End to end experience with the IO hardware stack from TL (Transport Layer) to PL (Physical Layer)
  • Experience with ARM ISA and related specifications like SMMU, CHI, GIC is preferred
  • Familiarity with accelerator technologies like UAL and NVLink is a plus

Key Responsibilities
  • Work with chip architects to understand architecture concept and high level requirements
  • Define and document and IO architecture requirements and solution for the chip
  • Collaborate with IP design and performance teams to optimize the end-to-end solution for PPA trade-offs
  • Evangelize/communicate these to silicon, system and software stakeholders
  • Participate in new product development, comprehend customer technical requirements, develop architectural solutions to meet those requirements
  • Work with design and verification teams to ensure implementation is in accordance with the specification

Pay range and Other Compensation & Benefits:
$233,000.00 - $349,600.00
The above pay scale reflects the broad, minimum to maximum, pay scale for this job code for the location for which it has been posted. Even more importantly, please note that salary is only one component of total compensation at Qualcomm. We also offer a competitive annual discretionary bonus program and opportunity for annual RSU grants (employees on sales-incentive plans are not eligible for our annual bonus).
