Overview
The Investment Operations Specialist is part of an internal group of professionals with broad financial backgrounds focusing on wealth management and financial consulting. The Investment Operations Specialist is responsible for working with the Petersen Hastings team to perform a wide range of investment related services for new and existing clients. These duties include execute security transactions (equity and fixed income), review and maintain client account asset allocation targets, prepare financial reports, and provide general support and research of portfolio and investment strategies.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Trading: Implement asset allocation plan, portfolio rebalancing, buy/sell/exchange securities as needed, cash investments, tax loss harvesting.
  • Execute money movement: distributions, contributions.
  • Understand investment options, strategies, and vehicles.
  • Perform database maintenance/updates in Trading System, escalate and resolve issues as needed.
  • Perform account maintenance: product set up, model set up/updates, cost basis.
  • Review and execute proxy voting.
  • Understand and able to communicate and apply custodian fee schedules.
  • Thoroughly investigate and follow up on reconciliation and settlement issues.
  • Communicate with custodians regarding trade related interfaces, best execution, etc.
  • Assist in the creation of internal reports/processes for monitoring data points.

Prerequisites
Education and Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in business administration, economics, or related field preferred.
  • Minimum of 2-5 years of related experience in an investment operations role in the financial services industry.
  • Series 65 license preferred.

Skills and Knowledge
  • Proficient in mathematical concepts and calculations.
  • Excellent research and problem-solving abilities.
  • Detail-oriented with a high degree of accuracy.
  • Spirit to serve; detailed, flexible, reliable, genuine concern for client satisfaction.
  • Comprehensive understanding of investment products, securities operations, and the servicing requirements of specific entities.
  • Proficiency in Office 365.
  • Demonstrated sensitivity to and ability to identify critical information; the ability to quickly research and collect pertinent information, to integrate essential information, and use that information to define and test options and alternatives.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop recommendations and justification for the most productive course of action - requiring insightful and creative skill in reasoning and logic, and in quantitative analysis.
  • Excellent knowledge of and demonstrated experience in trading and interest in investment research.
