Job description

A growing institutional investment management organization is seeking an Associate, Investment Operations to join its collaborative and fast-paced operations team. This position offers the opportunity to gain broad exposure to investment portfolios, trade processing, portfolio accounting, and operational support functions across multiple asset classes.

In this role, you'll gain exposure to institutional investment management and sophisticated investment strategies, as well as have the opportunity to work closely with experienced investment, finance, and operations professionals. You'll be able to build a strong foundation for future growth within investment operations, asset management, portfolio accounting, or related financial disciplines.

The ideal candidate is highly organized, intellectually curious, and comfortable working with large amounts of financial data. This role is well-suited for someone early in their career who has experience in investment operations, fund accounting, financial services, or related fields and is looking to build expertise within the asset management industry.

What You Will Do:

  • Support the operational execution of investment transactions by ensuring activity is accurately captured, validated, and reflected across internal systems and external records
  • Perform daily reviews and reconciliations of portfolio, transaction, and cash activity, identifying discrepancies and coordinating timely resolution with internal and external stakeholders
  • Assist with settlement-related activities, banking transactions, and interactions with custodians, brokers, and business partners to ensure smooth operational processing
  • Maintain portfolio and investment data, helping to ensure the accuracy, completeness, and integrity of financial and operational information
  • Prepare recurring reports, analyses, and operational metrics that support portfolio management, finance, and leadership teams
  • Participate in process improvement initiatives, documentation efforts, and operational control activities designed to enhance efficiency and reduce risk
  • Collaborate across multiple departments to support new account onboarding, system updates, special projects, and business growth initiatives

What You Will Need to Be Successful:

  • Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, economics, business, or a related field
  • One or more years of experience in investment operations, fund accounting, financial services operations, trade support, securities processing, or a related role; relevant internship experience will be considered
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to review, reconcile, and interpret financial information
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and comfort working with large datasets
  • Exceptional attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities in a deadline-driven environment
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills with the ability to work effectively across teams and with external business partners
