Join a fast-scaling aerospace startup and set the standard for next-generation high-voltage power electronics.


Allocor.tech is a nimble, high-growth avionics and power electronics company (founded 2018) delivering safety-critical motor controllers, flight control systems, and power solutions for advanced UAS, eVTOL, hybrid-electric platforms, and unmanned systems across air, land, and sea. Our Taurus family of motor controllers already powers real-world programs, including U.S. Army VICTOR UAS efforts.


We’re now developing 800V-class inverter technology to unlock higher power density and efficiency for larger and more demanding platforms. To make this happen at the speed and quality our customers expect, we need a hands-on Senior Electrical Engineer who will own the detailed hardware design and lay the foundation for how high-voltage power electronics are done at Allocor.tech for years to come.


Why This Role Exists

Lead power electronics designers are currently spending 20+ hours per week on spillover tasks—schematic reviews, simulation reruns, and PCB layout support—instead of the critical system-level architecture and program execution work that moves the 800V inverter program forward. This displacement creates schedule risk and a single point of failure in the engineering organization.


This role takes full ownership of next-generation high-voltage hardware design, freeing senior leaders to focus on architecture and delivery while establishing the rigorous processes, analysis standards, and documentation practices that will scale with the company as we grow production volumes and pursue higher levels of certification readiness.


What You’ll Own

  • Architect and design high-voltage power electronics circuits for the 800V inverter program, including topology selection, component derating, protection schemes, and power/thermal optimization.
  • Perform Worst Case Circuit Analysis (WCCA) and SPICE simulations for safety-critical circuits, producing clear, review-ready documentation.
  • Design complex mixed-signal systems with careful attention to noise isolation, signal integrity, creepage/clearance, and thermal management.
  • Lead impedance-controlled PCB layouts and high-speed signal integrity analysis for multi-layer power electronics boards.
  • Drive hardware-software integration for motor controller platforms, working closely with firmware engineers on register configuration, timing, and control loops.
  • Run design reviews (schematic, layout, WCCA) and present clear trade studies to engineering leadership.
  • Support prototype bring-up, bench testing, and qualification testing.
  • Build and maintain design files, simulation models, and test reports in our engineering document control system — setting the standard for how this work is done as the team and product line grow.


What You Bring

Required

  • 5+ years of hands-on power electronics design experience, with meaningful work on high-voltage (400V+) inverter or converter systems.
  • Expert-level proficiency with schematic capture and simulation tools (Altium, LTspice, MATLAB/Simulink, or equivalent).
  • Demonstrated experience performing WCCA on safety-critical or high-reliability circuits.
  • Strong background in PCB design for high-voltage and mixed-signal systems, including impedance control, creepage/clearance rules, and thermal management.
  • Experience with EMI/EMC design techniques and pre-compliance testing.
  • BSEE (MSEE preferred).


Preferred

  • Experience designing to aerospace or automotive standards (DO-160, AEC-Q, MIL-STD-810).
  • Background with SiC or GaN-based power stages.
  • Familiarity with functional safety standards (IEC 61508, ISO 26262) as applied to power electronics.
  • Prior work on 800V-class traction inverter or similar high-voltage programs.
