Job Title: Salesfloor Associate
Department: Retail Sales
Reports To: Location Manager
Job Summary:
The Salesfloor Associate is responsible for delivering exceptional customer service and supporting daily retail operations within the lumber store. This role plays a key part in assisting customers with product selection, maintaining merchandise presentation, and ensuring accurate inventory support. The Salesfloor Associate works closely with the Inventory Manager, Outside Sales Representatives, and cashiering staff to create a seamless shopping experience. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong product knowledge, a customer-first mindset, and a solid understanding of lumber and building materials (LBM).
Key Responsibilities:
Customer Service & Sales Support:
Greet and assist customers on the salesfloor, providing knowledgeable guidance on LBM products, millwork, and related materials. Help customers locate items and answer product-related questions.
Merchandising & Stocking:
Maintain clean, organized, and well-stocked displays. Ensure products are properly tagged, priced, and presented according to company standards.
Inventory Coordination:
Communicate stock levels, product movement, and customer needs to the Inventory Manager. Assist with restocking and product rotation to support inventory accuracy and availability.
Cross-Functional Collaboration:
Work closely with outside sales, cashiering, and warehouse teams to ensure smooth customer transactions and order fulfillment.
Product Knowledge Development:
Stay informed on product specifications, applications, and industry trends. Participate in training sessions to enhance product expertise and customer service skills.
Safety & Cleanliness:
Maintain a safe and organized salesfloor environment. Follow company safety protocols and assist in identifying and resolving potential hazards.
Customer Issue Resolution:
Support resolution of customer concerns by communicating effectively with internal teams and escalating issues when necessary.
Qualifications:
Experience:
Prior experience in retail, customer service, or sales, preferably within the lumber and building materials industry.
Skills:
Strong communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills. Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
Technical Proficiency:
Basic computer skills and familiarity with point-of-sale systems. Experience with inventory or ERP systems is a plus.
