Overview

The Senior Inventory Planner is a hands-on replenishment role responsible for executing day-to-day replenishment across an assigned portfolio of SKUs and vendors. Leveraging BlueRidge as the company’s planning system, this role maintains replenishment parameters, places purchase orders within approved open-to-buy guardrails, and works supply gaps to protect in-stock performance across a high-SKU, long-lead-time product portfolio. The Senior Inventory Planner makes sound day-to-day replenishment decisions, escalating higher-risk trade-offs to the Inventory Planning Manager, and partners with Merchandising, Finance, and the India supply chain team to keep purchasing aligned to targets and executed on time. As an experienced individual contributor and a step below the Inventory Planning Manager in scope and seniority, the role applies strong replenishment discipline, supports less-experienced planners, and delivers reliable results within established processes and guardrails.

Essential Responsibilities:

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

Additional duties may be assigned. Management retains the discretion to change or add to the duties of this position.

Replenishment System Execution

  • Maintain replenishment parameters by SKU and velocity code -- safety stock, reorder points, order quantities, lead times, and seasonality settings -- for an assigned portfolio, ensuring the system reflects current business reality.
  • Review system recommendations against actual demand and business conditions; identify configuration gaps and data quality issues and escalate to the manager or IT for resolution.
  • Work within exception-based workflows to focus effort on high-risk SKUs; reduce reliance on manual spreadsheet-based decisions and support adoption of system-based planning.

Purchasing & Open-to-Buy Execution

  • Place purchase orders within the approved open-to-buy framework, ensuring buys stay within financial guardrails and support inventory turns and service level targets.
  • Prepare and submit PO placement recommendations through the approval workflow, meeting cycle time standards and documentation requirements.
  • Monitor inventory investment for the assigned portfolio by vendor and velocity tier, proactively flagging purchases that risk exceeding OTB or creating excess positions.
  • Contribute data, analysis, and buy recommendations for assigned categories to the monthly purchasing review with Merchandising and Finance.

In-Stock Performance & KPI Support

  • Drive in-stock percentage across all SKUs in the assigned portfolio, monitoring weekly performance and conducting root cause analysis on out-of-stock (OOS) events.
  • Maintain accurate, timely visibility to inventory performance metrics -- in-stock %, turns, OTB utilization, and lead time compliance -- and surface risks with recommended actions.
  • Partner with Sales, Merchandising, and Customer Service to prioritize replenishment when supply is constrained.

Supply Gap & Inbound Coordination

  • Execute supply gap reconciliation for the assigned portfolio -- identifying SKUs where projected inventory falls below demand at stated lead time, quantifying exposure, and recommending corrective action.
  • Partner with the India supply chain team and vendors to resolve open gaps; flag emerging gaps early through the early-warning process before they become OOS events.
  • Maintain vendor lead time accuracy as a planning input; coordinate with DC Operations to align inbound scheduling with Acworth receiving capacity.

New Product Launch Support

  • Execute inventory planning and replenishment activities for new product launches within the assigned portfolio, ensuring purchase orders and inventory readiness support successful launches.
  • Recommend initial buy quantities and launch inventory targets in partnership with Merchandising, incorporating lead time requirements, demand assumptions, and OTB constraints.
  • Maintain assigned sections of the cross-functional NPL tracker -- PO placement, production status, ETD confirmation, ocean booking, DC receipt, and system readiness.
  • Support post-launch performance reviews, adjusting replenishment parameters based on early velocity signals.

Collaboration & Continuous Improvement

  • Serve as a day-to-day replenishment point of contact for Merchandising, Finance, Sales, DC Operations, and the India supply chain team on assigned categories.
  • Contribute to process improvements across replenishment, PO management, and inbound coordination; support and share best practices with less-experienced planners.

AI & Continuous Improvement

  • Apply AI-assisted workflows within planning and reporting to improve efficiency and exception handling.
  • Use AI tools for data analysis and reporting to increase speed and consistency without sacrificing accuracy.
  • Stay current on planning tools and automation; bring forward practical use cases.

Skills & Minimum Qualifications:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Reasonable accommodation may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform essential functions.

  • 3-5+ years of experience in inventory planning, replenishment, or supply chain operations -- ideally in a high-SKU, long-lead-time environment.
  • Hands-on BlueRidge experience required -- comfortable using the system for parameter management and day-to-day replenishment execution (power-user, admin, or configuration depth not required).
  • Microsoft Dynamics 365 (D365 SCM) experience preferred; familiarity using PO management and inventory transactions within D365.
  • Proven ability to manage a complex planning workload independently and deliver results with limited direct oversight.
  • Experience with finished goods sourced internationally with variable and extended lead times; India sourcing exposure a plus.
  • Retail, wholesale, or consumer products experience preferred; home furnishings or lifestyle category experience a plus.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, Operations Management, or related field; APICS CPIM certification a plus.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel required (pivot tables, modeling, scenario analysis); Power BI or comparable reporting tool experience a plus.
  • Solid replenishment and inventory planning knowledge -- able to use and trust system-generated recommendations while knowing when to override.
  • Developing financial acumen -- understands how inventory and purchasing decisions connect to turns, OTB, and service levels.
  • High accountability and ownership mindset -- treats in-stock performance, OTB adherence, and supply gap resolution as personal commitments, not just reporting outputs.
