Palmer Logistics is a leading third-party logistics (3PL) provider with twelve warehouse locations across the Houston, Baytown, Pasadena, Grand Prairie, and Dallas markets. We provide customized warehousing, distribution, and value-added logistics solutions for hazardous chemicals, non-hazardous chemicals, food-grade products, and general commodities. Position Summary

The Operations Manager is responsible for leading multiple warehouse operations while driving operational excellence, financial performance, customer satisfaction, safety, and employee development. This leader will partner closely with Warehouse Managers and cross-functional departments including Human Resources, Quality, Safety, Compliance, Customer Service, and Accounting to ensure efficient operations while implementing best practices that support the continued growth of Palmer Logistics and H.Essers. The ideal candidate is a strategic, customer-focused leader who enjoys developing people, solving complex operational challenges, and creating a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead multiple warehouse operations to ensure safe, efficient, and productive facilities.
  • Develop, coach, and mentor Warehouse Managers and operational leadership teams.
  • Promote a culture focused on safety, accountability, quality, and customer service.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives that improve productivity, service levels, operational efficiency, and cost performance.
  • Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs), operational metrics, labor productivity, and financial performance, including P&L accountability.
  • Develop and execute operational strategies that support company objectives and long-term growth.
  • Build and maintain strong customer relationships while identifying opportunities to improve operations and expand services.
  • Partner with Human Resources on staffing strategies, succession planning, employee development, performance management, and engagement initiatives.
  • Collaborate with Quality and Compliance to maintain ISO 9001:2015 certification, Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), and regulatory compliance.
  • Evaluate warehouse layouts, equipment utilization, staffing, and operational resources to maximize efficiency.
  • Support customer implementations, operational start-ups, audits, and strategic business initiatives.
  • Resolve operational challenges proactively while maintaining high levels of customer satisfaction.
  • Foster collaboration across departments to ensure operational consistency and achieve organizational goals.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Logistics, Supply Chain, Business Administration, or a related field preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years of progressive leadership experience in warehouse, distribution, or third-party logistics operations.
  • Experience managing multiple warehouse locations and leading large operational teams.
  • Strong knowledge of warehouse operations, inventory management, labor planning, and customer service.
  • Experience managing operational budgets and P&L performance.
  • Knowledge of warehouse management systems (Synapse experience is a plus).
  • Strong analytical, organizational, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, coaching, and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • Experience working in ISO-certified, GMP, or regulated warehouse environments is preferred.
