Operations Manager

About Your Role:
As an Operations Manager at one of Dollar Tree's Distribution Centers, you'll partner with other leaders to oversee safe, clean, and efficient receiving, order filling, and shipping operations in a high-volume, multi-shift environment. You'll ensure work is performed according to SOPs while meeting productivity and quality goals and reinforcing Dollar Tree's culture of safety, sanitation, and customer service. Your day-to-day job duties include, but are not limited to, the following:
Distribution Center Operations:
  • Coordinate and manage the filling of store orders, order selection, trailer loading, and related documentation
  • Monitor loads to ensure merchandise is loaded according to quality and stability standards
  • Coordinate and manage the flow of order selection functions from primary pick locations through outbound trailer close
  • Assist in coordinating replenishment cycles to ensure timely restocking of primary pick locations
  • Establish and monitor daily selecting and loading schedules to ensure adherence and proper resource utilization

Inbound Operations:
  • Manage and coordinate the receipt, unloading, and checking of merchandise
  • Monitor inbound loads to ensure unloading priorities are followed
  • Coordinate the flow of reserve inventory from receiving docks to reserve locations
  • Monitor reserve areas to ensure orderly and accurate storage of merchandise
  • Establish and monitor daily receiving schedules to meet operational priorities and cost controls

Performance, Safety & Quality:
  • Monitor and manage key productivity indicators including safety, financial, productivity, service, and people metrics
  • Ensure accuracy, housekeeping, damage reduction, and safety through enforcement of company standards
  • Foster a culture of safety, sanitation, integrity, and customer service

Leadership & Administration:
  • Manage the development, implementation, and administration of operational policies, programs, and systems across all shifts
  • Establish methods and procedures for departmental work activities and resolve operational issues
  • Partner with Human Resources on hiring, training, mentoring, evaluating, and developing associates
  • Carry out coaching, counseling, disciplinary actions, and employment recommendations as appropriate
  • Share information and anticipate communication needs of distribution center associates
  • Prepare operational statistics and reports for assigned functional areas

Judgment & Continuous Improvement:
  • Perform work with minimal direction, exercising independent judgment and decision-making
  • Evaluate current processes, methods, and SOPs and recommend continuous improvement initiatives

Your Required Skills and Experience:
  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Minimum of five (5) years of distribution center management or operations experience, or equivalent
  • Good working knowledge of distribution center practices and procedures
  • Strong leadership, administrative, organizational, managerial, and communication skills
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret data and implement solutions
  • Ability to make independent decisions, solve problems, and accept accountability
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access)
  • Working knowledge of Warehouse Management Systems (WMS), such as AS400
  • Flexibility to work various shifts based on business needs

Preferred Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in business administration, logistics, or a related field
