What is inventory management?

Inventory management is the process of ordering, storing, tracking, and controlling a company's inventory. It ensures that businesses have the right quantity of products in the right place at the right time. To thrive in Inventory Management, you need strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and knowledge of supply chain processes, often supported by a degree in business, logistics, or a related field. Familiarity with inventory management software such as SAP, Oracle, or NetSuite, and sometimes relevant certifications like APICS CPIM, is typically required. Effective communication, organizational skills, and problem-solving abilities set outstanding inventory managers apart.
