JOB SUMMARY
The Mechanic Shop Helper supports field mechanics and technicians in maintaining, repairing, and servicing equipment used in oil and gas operations. This role is hands-on, fast-paced, and essential to keeping field operations running safely and efficiently. The ideal candidate is reliable, safety-minded, and eager to learn mechanical skills in a heavy-industrial environment.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
  • Assist mechanics with routine maintenance and repairs on trucks, heavy equipment, pumps, generators, coil tubing units.
  • Perform basic tasks such as oil changes, filter replacements, lubrication, and cleaning of parts
  • Organize tools, maintain shop cleanliness, and ensure work areas meet safety standards
  • Help with equipment inspections and document findings as directed
  • Operate forklifts, manlifts, and front end loaders (training provided)
  • Deliver parts, tools, and materials to field locations as required
  • Support inventory management by receiving, labeling, and storing parts
  • Follow all company safety policies, including PPE requirements and hazard reporting.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE
  • Ability to lift 50+ lbs and work in physically demanding conditions
  • Basic knowledge of hand tools and shop equipment
  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record
  • Willingness to work in remote oilfield environments and in varying weather conditions
  • Strong work ethic, punctuality, and willingness to learn.

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE
  • Experience in oil and gas, heavy equipment, or automotive repair
  • Forklift or loader operation experience
  • Basic understanding of hydraulic, electrical, or diesel systems.

WORKING ON THE NORTH SLOPE
While working on the North Slope of Alaska, your lodging and food will be provided to you. All camps provide warm meals and options to grab a quick lunch or snack from the spike rooms. Rooms vary from single status to shared rooms where your roommate may work the opposite shift. Wi-Fi and Internet is free and available within the camp. Services vary depending upon where you are staying; however, most facilities offer housekeeping, self-serve laundry, commissary, mail, gyms, TV/Theater Room, etc. Each facility will have its own accommodation and policies that will be reviewed upon on-site orientation.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT
The physical demands and work environment requirements outlined below are representative of those necessary to successfully perform the essential functions of this position. A post-offer, pre-hire Functional Capacity Evaluation (FCE) will be conducted to ensure an employee's ability to safely meet job standards. Reasonable accommodation may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform these functions. Candidates must be able to comply with the ASRC Energy Driving Records and Motor Vehicle Use Policy, successfully pass a pre-employment drug test which may include both urinalysis and hair testing, and meet the physical requirements of working in a remote location under arctic conditions. In addition, candidates will be required to pass a Fit-for-Duty Exam, complete a background check, and obtain and maintain an access badge for the work location.
