Job description

Position: Materials Distribution Coordinator

Shift: 1st Shift; Monday through Friday from 6:00am - 2:30pm

Reports to: Inventory Control and Shipping Manager

Position Summary: The Materials Distribution Coordinator is responsible for managing the flow of materials in the manufacturing environment to ensure production processes run smoothly. This role involves receiving, sorting, inspecting, counting, and distributing materials, and requires strong organizational and communication skills.

Essential Functions:

  • Responsible for efficient flow of parts through inventory control.
  • Greets suppliers timely and with a positive approach; facilitates the safe and efficient delivery process.
  • Verifies items received to the packing slip; receives items into the computer.
  • Verifies parts are marked correctly and transfers parts to their respective areas.
  • Identifies and organizes purchased and manufactured parts on the shelves according to stock numbers.
  • Collaborates with various departments to streamline material flow.
  • Operates a forklift, pallet jack, and crane to move materials to their proper area and in general, keeps a neatly organized area for inventory accuracy and safety purposes.
  • Assists to process spare parts orders. These tasks include proper packaging of items for damage-free shipment and completion of proper paperwork for shipment, including customs requirements.
  • Assembles kits/parts and issues to production.
  • Responsible for identifying non-conforming parts and following Quality Control procedures to ensure parts in inventory meet specifications.
  • Reviews and resolves work order discrepancies.
  • Issues production receipts and kits-up purchased and manufactured parts of shop orders to be released for assembly once the kit is complete.
  • Assists supervisor in conducting cycle counts, investigates discrepancies between perpetual inventory book count and actual inventory; assists periodic physical inventory count.
  • Assists in preparing machinery for shipment to customers, assures safe shipment fastening procedures are followed. Tasks include properly protecting machinery for transportation, conducting final and quality audit checklists, and photographing machinery.
  • Adheres strictly to inventory control procedures.
  • Supports continuous improvement activities; maintains an open mind throughout the change process; works with others to continuously fuel improvement throughout the Company.
  • Responsible for own safety. Practices safe work habits and ensure all safety rules are followed. Responsible for keeping the area clean and organized to ensure safe working conditions.

Education and Experience:

  • Experience in materials management or inventory control, desired.
  • Demonstrated experience with Microsoft Office including Excel.

  • Ability to stand or sit for extended periods while working at a desk or computer.
  • Capacity to use standard office equipment such as computer, telephone, and scanner/printer.

  • Ability to navigate manufacturing floor environment, which may include walking on uneven surfaces, climbing stairs, and standing for extended periods.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. Some overhead lifting is required.
  • Capacity to wear personal protective equipment such as safety glasses, ear protection, and hard hat as needed.
  • Ability to tolerate exposure to moderate levels of noise, vibration, odor, and varying temperatures in a manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to follow health and safety guidelines and protocols including emergency procedures.
  • Regular, predictable attendance is required.
