Inventory Control Logistics information

How does an inventory control logistics professional typically collaborate with other departments to ensure optimal stock levels?

Inventory Control Logistics professionals work closely with purchasing, sales, and operations teams to maintain accurate stock levels and avoid shortages or overstock situations. Regular communication with these departments helps forecast demand, plan replenishments, and coordinate timely shipments. Collaboration often involves participating in cross-functional meetings, sharing inventory data, and resolving discrepancies quickly to support smooth business operations. This teamwork is essential for keeping the supply chain efficient and responsive to changing business needs.

What is inventory control logistics?

Inventory Control Logistics refers to the management and coordination of inventory levels, storage, and movement within a supply chain. Professionals in this field are responsible for tracking goods, optimizing stock levels, and ensuring that products are available where and when they are needed. ย  About the Role

The Inventory Control Specialist plays a critical role in supporting inventory accuracy, audit readiness, and operational excellence across KARL STORZ logistics operations. This position serves as the primary resource for inventory control activities, cycle counting programs, inventory investigations, and SAP-driven inventory management processes across the Auburn facility and third-party logistics partners. Working closely with cross-functional teams, you will analyze complex inventory issues, lead corrective actions, support continuous improvement initiatives, and help ensure product availability for both internal and external customers in a highly regulated medical device environment.

Schedule: Monday-Friday | 9:00 AM-5:30 PM

ย  What You'll Do
  • Lead cycle count programs, inventory audits, and reconciliation activities across warehouse and third-party logistics locations.
  • Investigate and resolve complex inventory discrepancies, SAP issues, serial number corrections, and product traceability concerns.
  • Develop, maintain, and analyze inventory and operational reports that support business decisions and inventory accuracy.
  • Partner with Operations, Customer Support, Sales, Marketing, Purchasing, and other stakeholders to resolve inventory-related issues and support customer needs.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on inventory accuracy, service levels, operational efficiency, and loss prevention.
  • Serve as a key resource for SAP testing, system enhancements, audit preparation, and inventory governance activities.
ย  What You Bring
  • Associate's degree required.
  • 5+ years of experience in distribution, logistics, supply chain, manufacturing, or production environments.
  • 5+ years of experience supporting quality assurance, process control, continuous improvement, or inventory management functions.
  • Advanced SAP experience with the ability to analyze, troubleshoot, and manage complex inventory transactions.
  • Expert-level proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel, Word, Outlook, and Visio.
  • Experience working with purchasing, accounting, customer service, and auditing processes.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Knowledge of FDA, QSR, ISO, or other regulated quality systems.

Nice to Have

  • Bachelor's degree.
  • Professional certifications such as APICS/ASCM, Lean Six Sigma, or Internal Auditor certifications.
  • Experience with medical device products and regulated inventory environments.
  • Experience operating powered material handling equipment.
  • Additional continuous improvement or supply chain certifications.
ย  What Will Make You Successful
  • A strong understanding of inventory governance, audit readiness, and inventory control best practices.
  • The ability to analyze complex data, identify root causes, and implement effective corrective actions.
  • Strong collaboration skills with the ability to influence cross-functional stakeholders.
  • A continuous improvement mindset focused on efficiency, accuracy, and customer service.
  • Effective communication skills and the ability to present inventory insights and recommendations to leadership.
  • Adaptability and attention to detail in a fast-paced operational environment.
ย  Why KARL STORZ?

Join KARL STORZ and be part of a team creating medical innovations that truly make a difference. Beyond technology, you'll be part of a culture that values talent as its greatest asset, empowering you to contribute to a mission that improves patient care worldwide.
