Job description

Connect Staffing is hiring a Warehouse Receiving Specialist for a commercial furniture warehouse and distribution facility in Houston, TX. This is a temp-to-hire position paying $16–$18/hr. In this role, you will receive, inspect, and store incoming commercial furniture shipments, manage inventory through cycle counts and audits, and coordinate order picking, staging, and shipping. This position offers long-term placement potential with a growing operation.

Responsibilities

  • Receive, inspect, and store incoming commercial furniture products, verifying shipments against purchase orders and flagging discrepancies.
  • Conduct cycle counts and inventory audits to maintain accurate stock records.
  • Coordinate order picking, staging, and outbound shipping to ensure accurate and on-time delivery.
  • Operate a forklift to move, load, and unload furniture products throughout the warehouse.
  • Maintain warehouse organization and optimize storage space utilization.
  • Investigate and resolve inventory discrepancies, shipping errors, and product damage issues.
  • Maintain accurate records of receiving, inventory, and shipment activity in Microsoft Excel, Outlook, and Word.


Minimum Requirements

  • 3+ years of warehouse experience in distribution, logistics, commercial furniture, or a related environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in commercial furniture warehousing or distribution.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Outlook, Excel, and Word.
  • Forklift certification (current or prior).
  • Experience with inventory management systems or WMS (Warehouse Management System) software.
  • Prior experience coordinating deliveries, scheduling, or transportation logistics.
  • Experience conducting shipping/receiving audits and resolving freight discrepancies.
  • Ability to lift and move up to 75 lbs and work comfortably in varying warehouse temperatures.
  • Ability to operate a forklift safely in a warehouse setting.
