Job description

Location: HWY 403 & Dundas St W, Mississauga

Schedule: This position will provide a full time schedule, availability to work evenings and weekends will be required as per business needs. 

About the Role

As a Quality Control Associate you will take a hands-on approach to maintaining our product quality control processes and monitoring our food safety requirements. Reporting to the FSQA Supervisor, you will play a key role in ensuring our customers are being provided with safe, great tasting meals.

What you will be doing:

  • Ensure compliance of products with regulatory requirements through monitoring of product labeling and CCP compliance
  • Perform quality control inspections on raw ingredients, work-in-progress and finished products to ensure products meet Company Standards 
  • Act as primary point of contact for Food Safety issues on the production lines
  • Communicate with cross-functional teams in cases of product non-conformance and implementation of measures to bring non-conforming products back into compliance. 
  • Lead production associates for ingredient sorting.
  • Ensure GMPs and management of allergens is followed as per procedures.
  • Receive inbounding and inventory SKUs from the Warehouse department and conduct quality control inspections to ensure products adhere to required specifications
  • Conducting sampling of raw materials, WIP, and finished products
  • Maintain accurate reports and records (ex. CCP & PCP records, line verification records).
  • Work in compliance with OH&S acts and regulations.
  • Use personal protective and safety equipment and clothing as directed by the employer and report workplace hazards and dangers to the supervisor or employer.
  • Conducting environmental monitoring to verify sanitation effectiveness and equipment calibration verification (ex. calibrating thermometers and other relevant QC tools).
  • Other duties as assigned

At a minimum, you have: 

  • Post-secondary education in Biological, Chemical or Food Sciences diploma
  • 6 Months to 1 year experience working in QC/QA in a food processing, manufacturing or service industry
  • Understanding the Safe Food for Canadians Regulations and GFSI schemes
  • Flexibility to work overtime, weekends, varying shifts and holiday work, as required
  • Willing and able to push, pull, and lift up to 50lbs
  • Has experience with standing for prolonged periods of time including regular bending, twisting and walking
  • Willing and able to work in a dynamic environment, which can include warm/humid or cold temperatures 
  • Ability to communicate in English, both verbal and written
  • Familiar with MS Office, Google Apps and comfortable learning new technologies. 
  • Ability to prioritize, remain calm and alert while multitasking in a fast-paced and deadline oriented environment. 
  • Ability to work independently and within a team environment, in addition to having strong interpersonal skills. 
  • Level 1 First Aid is considered an asset.
