Inventory Control Technician

(Full Time Position)

Position Summary:
The Inventory Control Technician is responsible for the oversight of supply related inventories and establishing & maintaining inventory controls for the Surgery Center. The Inventory Control Technician must be aware of and maintain inventory levels of supplies to promote optimum patient care while still maintaining cost-effective measures for the good of the Surgery Center.

Responsibilities:

Inventory Control Technician duties will consist of, but are not limited to:

  • Maintaining adequate, timely, inventory levels of all supplies for surgery center.
  • Establish and maintain adequate PAR levels and stocking locations for supplies across the center, including any ancillary stocking locations.
  • Managing back-order resolutions in tandem with Purchasing Coordinator, clinical staff, and vendors.
  • Managing timely, organized supply requisitions for inventory needing purchasing.  
  • Daily stock checks and reconciliation against supply requisitions from staff across all departments.
  • Creating and updating purchase orders in tandem with Purchasing Coordinator within MMIS (Envi)
  • Receive, unpack, inspect for damage, confirm accuracy and stock all supplies physically onsite & electronically in MMIS (Envi).
  • Interact with vendors and sales representatives as needed to ensure timely deliveries for cases.
  • Create and maintain a contact binder for all vendors and sales representatives.
  • Regularly monitor the surgery schedule within HST to ensure all needed supplies and special equipment are ordered in time for cases.
  • Coordinate procurement and return of special instruments and supplies as needed for cases.
  • Dispose of shipping boxes/materials in the appropriate manner.
  • Assist clinical staff in creating and maintaining an area for all equipment manuals & IFUs.
  • Assist clinical staff in maintaining a Recall Binder and coordinate appropriate recall-related returns, replacements, and destruction of affected products per manufacturer’s guidelines.   
  • Participate in periodic inventory counts and outdates.
  • Maintain clean and organized stocking locations
  • Assist/support clinical staff in building & maintaining preference cards within HST

      Other Responsibilities:

  • Assist clinical teams in times of need with day-to-day tasks including, but not limited to: helping with turnovers, positioning patients intraoperatively, discharging patients to cars
  • Assisting clinical staff and leadership with various projects, assignments, or tasks as needed.
  • May be required to travel or report to other facilities as assigned by management.
  • May be required to transport equipment & supplies between sites on occasion

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Current healthcare BLS certification.
  • Must possess knowledge of surgical supplies and related equipment.
  • Must possess knowledge of proper cleaning technique per the Center’s policies and procedures.
  • Must have full understanding of the English language, both verbal and written. 
  • Strong communication skills (both written and verbal).
  • Proficient in Windows, MS Office, and database management software.
  • Strong attention to detail.          
  • Must be able to lift and carry boxes of moderate weight as needed.
  • Self-starter: ability to push projects to completion with minimal oversight or instruction.
  • Ability to work both individually and collaboratively with a team.
