Inventory Control Specialist
Department

Position Summary
The Inventory Coordinator is responsible for maintaining accurate inventory records across all warehouse locations by ensuring inventory transactions are completed accurately and timely. This position supports warehouse operations through cycle counting, inventory auditing, discrepancy resolution, system transactions, and continuous process improvement initiatives. The Inventory Coordinator works closely with Receiving, Shipping, Production, Customer Service, and Warehouse Operations to ensure inventory integrity while supporting company goals related to safety, quality, customer service, and operational excellence.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Inventory Control
  • Maintain inventory accuracy across all warehouse locations.
  • Perform daily, weekly, and monthly cycle counts according to established schedules.
  • Investigate and resolve inventory discrepancies in a timely manner.
  • Research inventory variances and determine root causes.
  • Complete inventory adjustments with proper documentation and approval.
  • Monitor inventory transactions to ensure system accuracy.
  • Validate inventory during transfers between warehouse locations.
  • Perform physical inventory counts as required.

Warehouse Operations Support
  • Verify inventory during receiving, put-away, replenishment, and shipping activities.
  • Ensure inventory locations are accurate and properly maintained.
  • Monitor pick locations and coordinate replenishments to support production and customer shipments.
  • Assist with inventory verification for customer returns (RMA), damaged materials, and quarantined inventory.
  • Support warehouse consolidation and inventory optimization projects.

ERP & System Management
  • Process inventory transactions within the ERP system (IFS).
  • Monitor inventory movement reports and exception reports.
  • Ensure all inventory transactions are completed accurately and timely.
  • Assist in developing and maintaining inventory reports and KPI dashboards.
  • Support implementation of new inventory control processes and system improvements.

Continuous Improvement
  • Identify opportunities to improve inventory accuracy and warehouse efficiency.
  • Participate in Lean, 5S, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Assist with developing and updating Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
  • Support warehouse audits and corrective action activities.

Compliance & Safety
  • Follow all company safety policies and procedures.
  • Maintain organized and accurate inventory storage locations.
  • Support housekeeping initiatives throughout warehouse operations.
  • Ensure compliance with inventory control policies and internal audit requirements.

Required Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Associate degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, Business, or related field preferred.
  • Minimum of 2 years of inventory control or warehouse experience.
  • Experience working in a manufacturing or distribution environment preferred.
  • ERP system experience required (IFS experience preferred).
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office applications.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating with multiple departments.
