Job description

Job Summary:

The Senior Cost Accounting Analyst is responsible for leading cost accounting activities, financial analysis, inventory accounting, and manufacturing cost reporting to support operational and strategic business decisions. This role partners closely with Finance, Operations, Supply Chain, Manufacturing, and Quality teams to analyze product costs, maintain standard costing methodologies, support inventory controls, and drive continuous process improvements across the organization.

The position plays a key role in month-end close activities, variance analysis, inventory valuation, ERP/system enhancements, and ensuring compliance with internal controls and accounting standards in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Lead cost accounting and related month-end close activities, including journal entries, reconciliations, and financial reporting support. 
  • Analyze and interpret manufacturing variances, including labor, material, overhead, scrap, purchase price variance (PPV), and inventory reserve activity. 
  • Maintain and update standard costs for products, components, and manufacturing processes. 
  • Prepare and present cost analysis, inventory reporting, and operational financial metrics to Finance and Operations leadership. 
  • Partner cross-functionally with Manufacturing, Supply Chain, Engineering, and Quality teams to identify cost savings opportunities and operational efficiencies. 
  • Support budgeting, forecasting, and annual standard cost roll processes. 
  • Lead inventory accounting activities, including cycle count analysis, physical inventory coordination, reconciliation, and audit support. 
  • Monitor inventory controls and ensure compliance with internal control requirements and SOX standards. 
  • Support external and internal audits by preparing documentation, analyses, and audit schedules. 
  • Utilize ERP and financial systems to perform data analysis, reporting, and transaction validation. 
  • Participate in ERP implementations, system enhancements, automation initiatives, and process improvement projects. 
  • Develop and maintain financial models, dashboards, and ad hoc reporting to support business decision-making. 
  • Mentor and provide guidance to junior accounting or finance team members as appropriate. 
  • Perform other duties or special projects as assigned.

Minimum & Preferred Qualifications and Experience: 

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 5+ years of progressive cost accounting or manufacturing finance experience in a high-volume manufacturing environment. 

  • Strong knowledge of standard costing, inventory accounting, variance analysis, and manufacturing operations. 

  • Advanced Excel skills, including pivot tables, lookups, financial modeling, and data analysis. 

  • Experience working with ERP systems and financial reporting tools. 

  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills with exceptional attention to detail. 

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment. 

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to effectively partner across functions and levels of the organization. 

  • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and drive process improvements.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in medical device, life sciences, or regulated manufacturing environment. 

  • Experience with Oracle, SAP, or other large ERP platforms. 

  • Experience supporting SOX compliance and internal controls. 

  • Experience with inventory reserves, intercompany transactions, and global manufacturing operations. 

  • Prior experience supporting ERP implementations, automation initiatives, or business process transformation projects. 

  • Experience developing financial dashboards or using business intelligence tools such as Power BI or Tableau.

Education:

Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, Economics, or a related field is required. CPA, CMA, MBA, or other advanced financial certification is preferred.

Compensation:

The anticipated salary range for this position is $90,000 - $110,000 plus benefits. Actual placement within the range is dependent on multiple factors, including but not limited to skills, education, and experience. This position also qualifies for up to 10% annual bonus based on Company, department, and individual performance.
