Job Summary (basic description)
The firm's Knowledge Management Team is seeking a Knowledge Management Team Director. This role will lead a team of Knowledge Management Attorneys ("KMAs") who support the needs of the firm's practice and industry groups.
This position reports to the Senior Director of Practice Enablement and works in close collaboration with National Practice and Industry Heads and Practice and Industry Group Leaders.
Essential Functions
Specific to Knowledge Management Responsibilities across the entire KMA Team
In alignment with the firm's content strategy, responsible for leading the KM team in content creation and development related to all practice and industry groups and as pertains to legislative updates, case law updates, industry/practice trends and legal analysis of same.
Accountable for review, editing and contributions to content (e.g. writing and publishing speeches, articles, blogs, presentations and webinars) as generated by other firm resources (e.g. marketing and business development, attorney training and development) as relates to specific industries and practices
Ensures practice and industry groups' intranet content is current, and accurate. Builds and maintains a content library(s) across all industry and practice groups, to include model documents, forms, precedents, checklists, and related resources
Responsible for ensuring practice and industry group leadership and general attorney membership is continually up to date on all strategic shifts and evolutions of practice approach, strategy and execution
Partners with central firm resources and colleagues to ensure the effective use and leverage of firm-wide and practice-specific tools, process and technologies
In consultation and partnership with firm leaders and colleagues, responsible for leveraging enterprise investments in technologies and innovations at the practice and industry group level.
Accountable for the adoption and effective leveraging of firm-wide practice support resources, such as attorney training and coaching, Talent resources and communication platforms
Provide strategic insights and direction to practice and industry group initiatives and other special projects
Effective management and leadership of the KMA and Practice Coordination Team
Ensure the development of strategic goals, performance, and alignment of the team by providing direction, mentorship, and oversight to the team.
Partner with National Practice and Industry Heads, Practice Group Leaders, Industry Group Leaders, administrative leaders, and firm leadership to align KMA efforts with firmwide goals
Accountable for creating and maintaining a collaborative and high-performance culture within the team and amongst the practice and industry groups
Responsible for the development of key performance indicators for the team, monitoring and reporting on the impact of KMA work for the firm and its clients to firm leadership
Serve as a liaison between the team and other departments (e.g., IT, Innovation, Marketing, Talent) to support broader firm initiatives
Partner with the team, practice innovation attorney and innovation team to set strategic plan to implement new technologies for attorneys through practice groups
Ensure strong working relationships between the team and Practice Support Operations team
Maintain a strong understanding of trends in legal practice support, content development, and knowledge strategy

Qualifications/Skills Required
  • J.D. degree required
  • Minimum of 10-12+ years' experience as an employment litigator and/or knowledge management attorney, preferably with balance of experience as a practicing litigator.
  • Minimum of 3+ years' experience leading a team of attorneys with strong leadership and people management skills or leading large cross-departmental project implementations
  • Excellent writing and communication skills
  • Passion for knowledge-sharing, organizational skills, proficiency with technology and an aptitude for innovation, efficiency, and excellence in legal work

For Colorado, the expected salary range for this position is between $190,000 and $220,000. This position is also eligible for annual bonuses. The actual compensation will be determined based on experience and other factors permitted by law.
