On the bay where the Texas Gulf Coast meets the Coastal Bend, Corpus Christi, TX hands travel nurses a port-city base with a sizable hospital market of its own in Nueces County. Emergency, medical-surgical, and specialty assignments fill the bayfront hospitals' caseload. Portland lies ten minutes north across the Harbor Bridge, with Kingsville south on US-77 and San Antonio a long drive northwest. San Antonio has the larger tertiary referral market, well off to the northwest up I-37. A rental runs reasonable for a coastal city, a natural fit for a longer contract. The airport sits a short drive west of downtown for the trip out. Corpus Christi Bay and North Beach give water and sand right at the edge of downtown.
