tlanta VA Medical Center (VAMC), a Joint Commission, designated medical facility sits on 26 acres in Decatur, Georgia-just minutes from downtown Atlanta. The main medical center is a level 1A tertiary care facility providing patient-centered healthcare via an array of comprehensive medical, surgical, geriatric specialty services, as well as state-of-the-art diagnostic testing throughout 14 sites of care. With 466 inpatient beds, including a 120-bed Community Living Center, a 40-bed domiciliary, and a 21-bed Residential Treatment Program, the Atlanta VAMC is uniquely positioned to serve the healthcare needs of more than 130,000 enrolled Veterans living in 50 counties across northeast Georgia. RN Interventional Radiology - RESPONSIBILITIES (listed are included but not limited to)
  • The RN Interventional Radiology provides direct and indirect nursing care by assessing patient status, determining priorities, identifying nursing measures, and evaluating outcomes.
  • Utilize the nursing process and an interdisciplinary approach in Interventional Radiology, continuous, and comprehensive patient care.
  • Performing nursing functions related to physician-prescribed treatments in IR contributes to the effective and safe execution of interventional procedures.
  • The RN Interventional Radiology ensures a sterile environment during procedures, emphasizing the importance of infection control.
  • ssisting patients with activities of daily living is a vital aspect of the RN's responsibilities, showcasing a holistic approach to patient care.
  • dministering medications and IV therapies in compliance with local facility policies.
  • Doing an assessment of patients and the planning of appropriate nursing care are pivotal tasks in Interventional Radiology, ensuring patient safety and optimal outcomes.
  • Documenting the plan of care and care provided in the patient's medical record is essential for continuity of care and communication among the healthcare team.
  • Shall participate in the recognition and initiation of appropriate measures during emergencies and aid during surgical/diagnostic procedures.

RN Interventional Radiology - REQUIREMENTS
  • Candidate must possess at minimum an associate's degree in nursing and at least one full year of professional nursing experience.
  • Must have a minimum of 24 months experience in an Interventional Radiology environment during the last 36 months.
  • Shall have certification in Radiology Nursing (CRN).
  • Must possess a current, valid, unrestricted nursing license in a state, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a Territory of the United States.
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) as approved by the American Heart Association (AHA) are mandatory for all specialties.
  • Evidence of current immunizations is required.
