Join to apply for the Head of Brand and Communications role at Intersect

Intersect has been a fully flexible workplace since its founding in 2016. We’ve been very intentional about the way we do things. We are not work-from-home, hybrid, or in-office – we are any and all of those options! Deepening social connections and offering shared experiences is a cornerstone of the way we work. We connect as a team at our Team Week experiences four times a year and at our recently established Hub locations - SF Bay Area, NYC Metro Area, NY; Denver, CO; Houston, TX; Calgary, AB; and Toronto, ON.

We are currently seeking candidates located within 60 miles of any of the listed hubs to foster more in-person connections while maintaining our flexible remote culture.

About This Role

As part of Intersect’s People & External Affairs team, you’ll lead brand and communications strategy to shape how Intersect shows up in the world. You’ll manage a small, high-performing internal team alongside external agencies and consultants to elevate Intersect’s brand reputation, expand media engagement, and deliver compelling storytelling. Your work will span executive communications, content development, media relations, and thought leadership while partnering closely with the CEO, founder, and teams across the company. Success in this role means building a cohesive and impactful brand presence that supports Intersect’s mission and growth.

Team Overview

The Brand and Communications team sits within People & External Affairs, alongside Government Affairs, Community Engagement, and Human Resources. Together, this department strengthens Intersect’s voice, partnerships, and culture inside and outside the company. Our work is deeply collaborative and highly visible, supporting organizational goals while enabling every team to thrive. Joining this group means helping Intersect amplify its mission, strengthen relationships, and drive alignment across a fast-growing company.

What You’ll Do
  • Shape Brand & Storytelling

    • Craft compelling narratives that translate complex technologies and projects into clear, engaging stories
    • Oversee development of consistent, impactful messaging across all external communications
  • Drive Media & Thought Leadership
    • Build and manage media engagement strategies, including announcements, executive preparation, and speaking opportunities
    • Cultivate strong relationships with media, industry partners, and stakeholders
    • Guide external agencies and consultants to deliver results across earned media, social channels, and thought leadership
  • Lead Strategic Collaboration
    • Partner with the CEO, founder, and leadership to refine communications strategy and execution
    • Collaborate cross-functionally to align brand and communications efforts with organizational goals
    • Develop tools, processes, and strategies including AI applications to enhance efficiency and scale
  • Measure & Optimize Impact
    • Establish and manage data-driven measurement frameworks to assess communications effectiveness
    • Translate insights into actionable improvements in content, engagement, and strategy
    • Report results and recommendations to executive stakeholders
  • Lead & Develop Teams
    • Manage a high-performing internal team while overseeing consultants, contractors, and agencies
    • Provide clear direction, mentorship, and professional growth opportunities
    • Foster collaboration and accountability across all brand and communications initiatives
What You’ll Bring
  • 10+ years of experience in B2B communications, brand marketing, and public relations; technology or data center background preferred
  • Proven track record in media engagement, relationship management, and thought leadership campaigns
  • Strong executive communications experience, including speechwriting and presentation development
  • Demonstrated success in managing teams and external partners to deliver measurable results
  • Exceptional writing skills and ability to create original, high-impact content
  • Ability to flex between strategic planning and hands-on execution in a fast-paced, evolving environment
  • Experience in process optimization and client management at the executive level
  • A collaborative approach and growth mindset, with curiosity to explore new tools and approaches including AI to advance communications impact
Total Rewards
