Job description

Philadelphia Technician Training Institute is seeking a compassionate, dependable, and highly motivated American Sign Language (ASL) / CDI Interpreter to support a newly enrolled deaf student. If you have a passion for accessibility and a desire to help others succeed, this is a meaningful opportunity to make a direct impact on a student’s educational journey and future career. This role is urgent and essential to ensuring the student has full access to instruction, communication, and hands-on training throughout their program.


This position would be over the course of 4 months or until student completes the program. Schedule would be Monday-Friday from 12pm to 7pm.


This is an urgent need, and we are looking to fill the position immediately.


Key Responsibilities

  • Provide real-time ASL interpretation during classes, labs, and school activities
  • Facilitate clear communication between the student, instructors, and peers
  • Support the student consistently throughout the program schedule (12 PM – 7 PM)
  • Maintain professionalism, confidentiality, and accuracy in interpretation
  • Adapt to a fast-paced, hands-on trade school environment


Qualifications

  • Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL)
  • Previous interpreting experience in educational or vocational settings preferred
  • RID certification or equivalent (preferred, not required depending on experience)
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Reliability and ability to commit to 4 month duration
